Publisher's summary

What I wanted for my birthday: Books. What I got for my birthday: my brother’s best friend playing matchmaker.

Let it be known that I, Kinsley Lane, am 100 percent against being set up with somebody. And I’m 1000 percent sure that Josh Carter is not the man to find me a boyfriend. I mean, if I’m so great, why isn’t he the one dating me? (For the record, I don’t know the answer. That’s just what the guy on the internet asked.)

Still, I’ll humor him. If I go on his little dates, he’ll teach my bookish, introverted self how not to be totally, completely, utterly, unforgivably awkward on every single one of them. And all I have to do is fall in love with one of the lovely gentlemen he’s serving up for me on a silver platter - all of whom fit my very specific guidelines.

Simple, right? It would be.

If only I could stop falling for Josh.

A delight for any bookworm!

The Bookworm's Guide to Dating weaves a tale of forbidden romance, laced with plenty of humor. This is the end result when the person in charge of setting you up on dates, is the same one you should be dating.

I forced myself to only listen to this book while I was at work, or else I knew I wouldn't put it down until I finished. Emma Hart cleverly intertwines witty banter and romance into a story that will leave a smile on your face!

I really wanted to like it

The storyline started out okay but the characters got so annoying I couldn’t get through it. Kinsley was crabby throughout and I kept thinking Josh should be done with her like I ultimately was. Couldn’t finish it. I do love the narrator, though.

Main Character is unlikable

I loved the premise of the storyline and the narration but the main character was annoying AF. As a Harry Potter fan (book and movie) myself, I found her snobbery about HP to be a turn off. Also, the way she talked to Josh was super pretentious and mean. It was hard to root for them to get together. Their banter was off... he would be flirty and fun and she would be harsh and up tight. I was really hoping she would get humbled at some point. The characters in the next book better be more likable.
