A beginner's guide.

This is very high level intro to a beginner or aspiring writer.
I recommend this for someone with little to no knowledge of novel writing.
Narrator's voice is clear and easy to understand.

Good introductory instructional book

I was given this book for free by the author for my unbiased review.

It actually was a simple informative book on writing a novel. I do not usually listen to books that instruct because I find that having the ability to read something through helps me understand the content better. Yet, I liked the breakdown in each chapter.

It is a short listen and a quick informative read. I am actually going to purchase the actual book so that I can more easily access the chapters I want to review.

More Helpful Than I Anticipated

To be honest, I do not usually listen to these type of books because I'm not really sure whether the author is actually an expert on the subject or if they are just throwing together some facts in order to get a book quickly published. The jury is still out on this one since I cannot find any actual novels written by Mr. Swain. If he has some published novels, it would be good to tell the reader/listener those details so the source can be more trusted.

That being said, I enjoyed this more that I thought I would. I have had a story brewing in my mind for some time, and this did give me a few ideas worth pursuing. I especially appreciated the section on conclusions.

Mr. Murphy did a fine job narrating this.

Very Helpful for Beginners

This is a very helpful book with lots of tips and tricks on how to start writing your first novel. Having written a few stories myself I can say that the author gives the lowdown on what is needed to make a story worth reading and how to get there. If you are looking to start writing, whether it be a novel, novella or short story then you should get this book. It really is a great way to get your head in the game and complete your dream of being a writer. The narration is well done. Macken Murphy has a clean and clear voice and he reads at a nice pace that is easy to keep up with. I highly recommend this for beginner writers.

Writing Tips..

This 52 page book gives tips on how to start your book, how to get your book set up and running.

It covered how to gather materials, outline your story line, point of view, character development, and story ending.

Overall an ok book, I just wish it was a bit longer.

The narrator, Macken Murphy, did well.

Cliff notes for writing a novel

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Not a life-changing guide by any means, but a solid how-to on starting to write a book. It's short enough that a pass at the start of your novel should give you some good first steps. Then another pass after you have some time into it should give you some guidance on how to continue. Finally, a pass a the end as a final check-in, and you should have a decent path to follow.

Funny, Useful, and can really make you Smile

It is pretty funny, our little narrator lightens the terrifying path of listen a audio-book. I've kept some mental notes with me as I think about the story I'm writing. I found myself falling somewhere between the two main types, planning out a chapter's events or ideas before listen and trying to make sure the overall plot I was going for was still achievable on the path I started.
