Becoming a Better Conversationalist

This author covers so many potential conversation scenarios that happen in day-to-day living that I'm certain anyone would be able to relate to the contents of this audiobook; but especially for an introvert, the insights shared within are like CliffsNotes for a life-prep exam.

Providing examples and in-depth thought processes to make sense of any conversational deficit, Mr. Richards guides the reader through anxiety-filled situations with suggestions for how to correct incongruous body language messages, what to do when things don't go as planned, and how to improve conversations overall so that they lead to real connection between the participants.  If developing confidence in talking to others is your goal, this is your guide.  I highly recommend it!

unique approach

I appreciate the book's unique approach, as it focuses on those who grapple with fundamental communication skills rather than immediately delving into advanced techniques. The author's personal journey as an introvert lends credibility and relatability to the text, demonstrating his passion for helping others navigate their emotional struggles. The book covers essential subjects like overcoming self-doubt, mastering body language, initiating and sustaining conversations, and many more. Awesome new strategies for me to use!

I typically have problems with a few of my coworkers of being able to wrap up conversations with them. I'm always grateful that they are willing to talk to me and feel confident in confiding in me and such but sometimes it interferes with my work and I cannot seem to get them to understand boundaries as well as me learning how to wrap up the conversation in a respectful manner. The book has a whole range of topics that I found very helpful as well. There are a lot of techniques though surrounding how to gracefully conclude conversations and bow out of the conversation without discomfort or awkwardness.

The complete opposite of a topic that I liked in this book was how to sustain a conversation. My kids struggle with this because so often kids just hide behind their screens. I noticed when they are with their friends and they try to ask how things are going and the other one answers, that's kind of the end of the conversation. So I have been sharing these tips from the book with my teenage daughter on how to make the conversations last longer and be more meaningful.

One other way I found this book useful was when the section about filling in the awkward silence. That is for sure my husband and I just started a new job so I had him listen to the chapter so that he didn't give first impressions of making awkward jokes that only he laughs at.

I found many people that could use this book so I am very happy to have got to listen to it.

Communicate like a professional! Great Audiobook!

"How to Talk to People (And Not Feel Like an Idiot) The Communication Skills You Need to Cut Through Social Anxiety, Connect with Anyone, and Spark Engaging Conversations" By: A. Michael Richards :I enjoy how the author organized this book such that it is straightforward and simple to read. It will teach you how to project yourself correctly, have the right tone, and use body language to communicate effectively. It will also help you become more confident in your communication skills. One of the things that appeals to me is the way it demonstrates how to ask good questions and deal with conflict when it occurs. Thus, this is for you if you struggle with self-expression or communication, or if you lack confidence. I highly recommend this audiobook!
