Publisher's summary

Want to optimize your brain function? This book teaches you about specific brain-supporting nutrients, how these nutrients affect us, and what we can eat to support our brain function.

The author is a survivor of a severe traumatic brain injury that left him comatose, with less than a 10 percent chance of regaining consciousness beyond a vegetative state. In this book, he shares real-life stories of how he used nutrition in his own brain recovery, along with scientific studies and research explaining why and how nutrition makes such a difference in our brain function.

After sustaining his severe injury, the author devoted years to researching and connecting with doctors, nutritionists, practitioners, neuroscientists, and many others to learn how to optimize brain recovery and function.

How to Feed a Brain is the culmination of the nutritional tools that he has learned through this journey and used in his own recovery. The book provides links to download printable charts, lists, and user-friendly handouts to take to the grocery store or put on the refrigerator so that you can easily apply what you learn to optimally feed their brains. There are special sections that provide instructions for supplementation and tube feeding.

This book is not only for someone with a brain injury or disease but also for anyone seeking to improve their brain. Ready to get started? How to Feed a Brain will give you the nutritional tools to optimize your brain function.

one of the best resources out there

This book is worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars if you struggle with PCS, especially if you are in an area without a dedicated concussion clinic, or can't afford the appointments you would need to to get the information elsewhere. The online handouts help you integrate the information you get into a lifestyle that will help you change your life. highly recommend.

A Ton of Information on Feeding Your Brain

Cavin illustrates and provides vital information on how food can help heal and maintain the brain. Since listening to this book on Audible I have altered my diet to make my brain better.

A healthy lifestyle diet is one thing. You will learn some of the foods in lifestyle and other diets may not be the best for your brain health.

So with this in mind I highly recommend you read this book to expand your prospective on diet.

Absolutely amazing for those recovering from TBI

I've been recovering from TBI and nutrition was my turning point. I was not even strong enough to walk to the bathroom at the beginning. In the months that have followed I have almost started to feel normal again. The Drs have told me that I am recovering much faster than they expected, and I have heard from others who have had a TBI that my progress is remarkable. In addition to nutrition, brain rest (a medical therapy), lots of sleep and naps, and exercise (even the 10 meter walks that were all I could do at the beginning), are what I believe made my rapid recovery possible.

Hearing the author's story is truly inspirational, and hearing him list so many of the same symptoms that I have had makes it feel like I am not alone and gives me hope that I won't just survive, but that I can thrive and live an amazing life too

Very Good Information

Cavin you did a great job in writing and reading your book. I appreciate it when the author reads their own books because we get the true spirit in what they are trying to relay. Sorry for your accident, but happy that you have persevered. You have a great family that rallied around you. People think about exercising their body, eating healthy for their body, taking medicine for their body, but neglect their brain. That's how I found you because I wanted an optimal brain. I'm 69 and I don't feel as sharp as I use to. I will use your advice to optimize my brain cells. Thank you. Patricia C
