The pile of recent dieting books is growing faster than the average American's waistline. From the well-known programs that deprive and restrict to ones that rely on juice alone, it seems that everybody has an answer to the growing problem of obesity.
When Jon Gabriel's life took an unexpected turn, he suddenly was awakened to the marvelous gift that he had been given - the opportunity to live - and was disgusted at how he had treated his body. At over four hundred pounds, walking, sleeping, and working was a struggle against gravity, and his life was a constant battle between emotional and physical satiation. He was slowly killing himself with food.Like the estimated 58 percent of Americans, and rising numbers in other countries, Jon was trapped in what he came to call the FAT - Famine and Temperature - trap. By studying biochemistry, Gabriel learned that your body has an internal logic that determines how fat or thin you will be at any given time. The way to lose weight is not to struggle or to force yourself to lose weight but to understand this internal logic and work with it so that your body wants to be thinner. When your body wants to be thinner, weight loss is inevitable and becomes automatic and effortless. You simply crave less food, you crave healthier foods, your metabolism speeds up and you become very efficient at burning fat, just like a naturally thin person. And that's the real transformation - to transform yourself into a naturally thin person, so that you can eat whatever you want whenever you want and still be thin, fit, and vibrantly healthy.
After listening to The Gabriel Method, you will learn:
It certainly worked for Jon; he lost 225 pounds in two-and-a-half years, going from 409 pounds to 184, without suffering, dieting, or anguishing over his body. Unlike most people who lose an extensive amount of weight, his skin tightened up and now is indistinguishable from that of a person who has been healthy his whole life.

"The most comprehensive and scientifically meaningful method I've ever encountered." (Jean Bolkelman, M.D.)
I've been eating less, not wanting at all to continue eating beyond my body's feeling full or comfortable (no willpower involved- just doing what I want to do.) although this approach helps working through underlying circumstances leading to what's activating your fat programs (as Jon Gabriel calls it), merely being aware of what's occurring physiologically, using visualizations, including the night time weight loss audio from the website, I'm losing weight and feeling more alive. I have not spent the time yet to take full use of the program, but it's working even preliminarily with the eye opening knowledge, actively trying to turn on fat burning, taking advantage of "smart mode" and using visualizations. I have no financial gain from this review. I've listened to at least 50 audiobooks here and I think this is my second review. Hope it's helpful.
great book. moves along quickly but provides plenty of information. I believe Jon Gabriel has finally hit the nail on the head for obesity. All this while we have been blaming our lazy undisciplined selves and our forks when it has been in our heads all along.
I bought this because I was interested in meditation for weight loss, and still am. The book starts out with interesting ideas and I had an open mind so I just flowed over the references to "past lives" and the supernatural. But, I gave up and stopped listening when the author began advocating skipping vaccinations because they are "toxic." Really? Anti-vaccinations? This books seems beyond new-age, it is anti-science.
Good. Narration is fine. It is the content that is not worth your time.
Anti-vaccinations, past lives, non-science based assertions.
It is kind of weird at first to listen to considering it is a book on losing weight. But all the mind stuff in the psychological stuff that he talks about actually is true and does make sense towards the end. I feel like my brain and my taste buds are changing, everything is. Mind you, I was already down this path, but this just confirmed and further explain a lot of stuff for me. I love his no diet approach to losing weight, which is very liberating, and very effective. For that reason I give it five stars.
This book is terrible and was a huge waste of my precious driving and audiobook time. I tried to keep an open mind but the discussion of past lives and bs visualization techniques like watching fat swirl away through your belly button were just too much. The book is also random AF. Gabriel says it's not a diet book, not a diet book, not a diet book, eat-what-you-want-when-you-want, this is not a diet book. He spends countless chapters talking about our fat programs and then describes visualization techniques followed by a lot of info on what kinds of nutritional proteins, fats and carbs to eat. It takes a lot for me not to finish a book but this was not worth another hour and a half. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because 1) the diet info was solid and 2) I didn't finish it completely.
I appreciated how this book dealt with the many causes of weight issues which encompasses the whole body. Many times ,with any medical challenge, only the physical is addressed, so true healing seldom happens.
NOTE: REVIEW BY KAREN KORWAL, SEBASTIAN KORWAL'S WIFE
The content was enjoyable, but NOT the narrator. I dislike "trained voiceover" narrators, as they always sound pretentious and overdone. Certainly true for this one. Jon Gabriel's voice is much better to read his own material. The content is excellent, though, and his method does work!
Pretentious, stagey, disconnected from the material (I didn't believe for a second that any of this happened to him -- which it didn't, but he's "playing" the role of Jon Gabriel, very unconvincingly), quite annoying. I also very much dislike the "vocal fry" in his voice. (Google if you don't know what that is.)
I appreciated the story of Jesse the cat, which demonstrated how our bodies respond to external threats by putting on fat or becoming lean. Very memorable.
Jon Gabriel has other materials, which I highly recommend, especially "Visualization for Weight Loss." That one has a lot of bonus materials, and the Evening Visualization mp3 is super effective. Literally listen as you fall asleep, and find yourself slimming down! I still haven't gotten through all of this recording, mainly because the narrator is just so utterly annoying. I'm very sensitive to sound (misophonia) and his voice and delivery style are grating to me. May not bother some people, so be sure to listen to the sample before deciding. Overall, I highly recommend Jon Gabriel's work, just not this recording. Get the physical book instead.
