"The most empowering diet secret ever." (O, the Oprah Magazine)
I was 20 pounds from ideal weight, 15 lbs to where I would "settle." I've gained weight gradually since age 50, and attributed it to menopause--after all, I exercise strenuously 5 days a week.
I listened to this on a 4 hr plane trip and I was so inspired, that I listened on the way back 6 days later. I downloaded the PDF today, and I'm ready to start the 6 week program.
I've lost 5 lbs in the 10 days since I first listened. I didn't realize how much I was eating. And I'm amazed at how easy it is to stop the cravings. I'm actually leaving food on the plate, even Thanksgiving Day. And, it's much easier to follow my diet program (McDougall). No more excuses and I feel great.
This book focuses on developing habits day by day. Reading it may be a little easier because of the the way she develops each lesson. However, I usually "read" in the car while listening to my IPOD and this version is fine.
I now feel confident that I'll achieve my ideal weight and I'll be able to fit into my skinny clothes by Spring!
This is a great book. I can honestly say it has changed the way I think about food and dieting. Since I listened to this book I have lost 10 lbs with very little effort. Maybe it was just the right book at the right time, but the information in the book has allowed me to approach losing weight in a very different way than I have before. I know how to lose weight, eat less and exercise, so why did it it seem impossible to do? I know I am an emotional eater, so why don't I just stop? This book gave me the tools to do just that and I couldn't be happier.
This is a great book, focusing more on the mental aspects of weight loss. It's not just another meal plan/exercise plan book, but it goes over the emotional reasons people may overeat. So far so good. Just one thing: The narrator refers to CD 4 with .pdf information. Would you please provide this data on the site?
The book is very good, and the program very doable. But audible readers need to have access to the information on the CD she is always talking about. Why are they not provided here? And where can we get them?
This books is excellent and it really helps you stick to a diet. The exercises are a must in order for you to stick to a plan. I really thank Judith for writing this dieters.
When I went to the Audible website on a computer instead of on my phone and opened my library it clearly listed PDF as a download option and that had 2 files: the journal and charts and graphs.
The book itself is really good and useful.
A bit tedious to listen to all in one sitting. I really wish they had broken out the chapters naturally instead of the large generic 4 chunk chapters. Since this book is suppose to be listened to over 41+ days, it would help greatly. As a result, I had to listen to the book, breaking out chapters by bookmarks. Not pleasant.

1. Definitely great advice, but nothing revolutionary.
2. Structure was condescendingly formulaic and almost robotic.
3. Narrator sounded like a call center automaton or a stepford wife. Groan-worthy.
4. Probably better as a hard copy. Would lack the awful narration and the formulaic structure would be easier to visualize. Her process is most likely very effective, but only if one was participating as an active reader - taking notes and writing down thoughts along the way. I think there is workbook that goes with this. I do not doubt that her program is effective - but not best translated as audiobook.
Absolutely, its not just a list of rules or preachy ways to live. It's an insight into the mind while its dieting.
There isn't really a character since it's referring to you, the listener but I will say there is a great understanding of the listener and therefore a credibility gained in what she says.
Great voice, vocal ranges that aren't flat. She speaks to you like a psychiatrist does.
When she tells you to do something she gives you a list of all the ''sabotaging thoughts'' you might have to the instruction she gives you. At first I thought this was funny, then I was freaked out by how accurate it was and then I was inspired at how knocking those thoughts changed how I felt about things.
This isn't a cure all but even within the first half I could see myself making changes for life. Awesome.
Worked like a charm. However, before doing this, I had to clear up some shame and guilt and feelings of undeservingness. If you are sure you want to lose weight and are ready to handle the almost inevitable positive results, do this. I listened to 1 track per day, exactly how she advised.
I recommend you follow her advice when she says not to start your diet until day 15. It's hard to wait, but those prep weeks were invaluable.
