Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author K. Bromberg is back with an all new second-chance, standalone hockey romance.

At first, the request seemed simple - sign a new athlete to the agency.

Then I found out the new athlete was none other than the most wanted man in hockey today: Hunter Maddox.

Gifted. Sexy. At the top of his game. And the only man who has ever broken my heart.

If signing him will help save our family business, I’ll swallow my pride and do what’s asked.

But when it becomes clear his uncharacteristic antics off the ice are a hint of something deeper, keeping things strictly professional between us becomes more than complicated. But I know better than to cross that line.

I’ll never date a client. Not even for him.

- - -

Win the Stanley Cup and do it before time runs out.

Not a small feat, but it’s what’s motivated me since the start of my career.

And time is running out.

Enter Dekker Kincade.

Feisty. Dogged. Damn gorgeous. The one I let get away.

I have no idea why she’s traveling with the team, but hell if resisting her is going to be easy.

But I have a job to do, and I refuse to lose sight of that end game. Even if she confuses me. Even if she sees parts of me I’ve hidden from the world.

I can’t lose focus. Not even for her.

Great book!!

Loved this book! I would have give all 5 stars but I have 2 issues with this book. First off, the female narrator was awful. I can’t stand her voice and I can’t put my finger on it. It’s like a breathy like high pitch? I can’t quite explain it but I find her voice annoying. Also the author wrote waaaaaay too many “GD’s” and Jesus’s. Totally unnecessary. Other than that it was a great story.

Depressing but a great ending!

I barely made it through this book. So depressing and my mood showed it. 2nd half was so much better and of course the ending was perfect!

WOW

I laughed and ooohed and swore and sobbed!! StRt reading this book now!!

Twins Jonah and Hunter lived their lives all hockey. From the time they could get skates on, that was their dream!

When they were sixteen, a horrible fate happened to them.
Involved was Jonah's girlfriend.
This event turned their lives in total horror.

Hunter's father is a brute. No matter what, Hunter is never going to be good enough for him. Along with his father, Hunter is carrying some heavy weights on his shoulders.

Dekker is one of four daughters, who along with their father own a Sports Agent Business.
Their father sends Dekker to get Hunter to switch agencies. Unbeknownst to him, Dekker and Hunter have a past.

Kate, this is a wonderful story where I cheered, swore, laughed and in particular sobbed. Very well done!!

As per usual, Jacob Morgan and Emma Wilder's narratives were perfect !!!

No matter how you get to read this book, make it on the top of your list of musts!! You won't regret it!!

Beautiful Book

I totally enjoyed Dekker & Hunter’s story. The narrators performed amazingly well and really brought their feelings to life. They were so good that sometimes I felt like I was actually sitting in the same room while they expressed their feelings out loud. My only wish is that some things in certain areas could have been more resolved. But nonetheless this book is another K Bromberg winner in my eyes.

Boxes Checked

Beautifully performed book. Emma and Jacob really made me feel this book. And this book...this book checked so many of my book boxes. Hockey romance, second chance and enemies to lovers. Dekker and Hunter...two people who excelled in getting in their own way. It prevented them from being honest not only with each other but with themselves. Even three years later when Dekker is tasked with signing the out of control and volatile Hunter to her family’s sports agency, they still had problems not only being honest with themselves but with each other. This journey was both frustrating and intriguing for me. The arc of these characters and their relationship was such a journey. It was a rollercoaster of emotions in the best way. I loved every minute of it. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series featuring Dekker’s smart, sassy and strong sisters.

5 Stick, Skill, Finesse Stars!!!

This is so much more than a sports romance. Hunter and Dekker’s second chance, sprinkled with enemies to lovers storyline grabs you from page one and you’ll struggle to put it down. Their banter is on fire and their chemistry is electric. I love how Decker is a strong woman and HUNTER is so sexy, cocky and you can’t help but fall for him. Prepare for ALL THE FEELS! Absolutely worth the listen! Narration is fantastic!

Hard to Handle without crying!

This is the first book in The Play Hard Series, a Sports Romance. I love the cover! Hard to Handle was effectively Hard to Handle without crying! OMG! I wasn't prepared for this story. Hunter and Dekker's story is emotionally intense, heartbreaking, and beautiful. The characters are wonderful. Hunter wasn't my favorite hero at first... but OMG! I was wrong! He is a wonderful broken soul. Dekker is beautiful, strong, independent, caring and supportive. They are perfect together. They share a strong and beautiful chemistry. The storyline is slow paced, and captivating. The back and forth, past to present, is emotionally heartbreaking, at least to me. By the end, while listening to the first epilogue, I was a crying mess. What a beautiful and emotional story! I started by reading it, and I Immediately decided to switch to the audiobook version. I didn't regret it, not a minute. Jacob Morgan and Emma Wilder did an outstanding job with the narration. They were perfect as Hunter and Dekker. This is a great author/narrators team! I LOVED it, and I HIGHLY recommend it! Looking forward to listen to the next installment in the Series.

Skating the rink with the Stanley Cup worthy

As always K. Bromberg leaves us wanting more, feeling like we have just skated the full 60min game. Her characters engage, keep us moving and always wanting more! Definitely a skating around the rink with the Stanley Cup above your head worthy....

Nothing hard to handle here.. Easy to enjoy!

Wow, fabulous story and characters. The narrators were spit on. Emma Wilder does great male voices.
Hard to drive and listen when there is so much emotion put into the book.

Wow!

Wow!
This book is much more than just a sports romance. I was not prepared for the emotional side of Hunter’s story. And while some parts of the book had me very close to tears it all tied together perfectly at the end.
