No one believes her. Yet.

When Archivist Andrea Kelley scores a sweet rental in Charleston, WV, she discovers it’s already occupied. But the early rising, bacon-loving ghost of six-year-old Billie Mae makes for a tolerable roommate. Until two bodies turn up nearby and Billie Mae launches a full-fledged haunting offensive.

Scared, but determined to find the truth behind the little ghost’s murder, Andrea uses her considerable research skills and position at a powerful repository to investigate the strange circumstances surrounding Billie Mae’s death - and her mother’s confession of murder. But will Billie Mae’s antics be enough to convert her biggest skeptic to her cause?

Detective William Taka is pretty sure Andrea is losing her sanity and dragging him down with her, but he has his own troubles. He’s pissed off his superiors, relit an old feud with a formidable ex-ally, and now someone’s tracking his every move.

Caught between an increasing phantom fury and the consequences of Taka’s actions, Andrea confronts the local crime boss, the cops, the dead, and her own past to find a way forward for all of them. Can she unearth a long-hidden secret before both she and Taka end up six feet under?

It’s different.

I enjoyed the story line. It was different than most ghost stories I read. The love story is interesting.

Good book

I wish there was more about Elle Mae and a lot less about Takka. Takka just seemed big and dumb and not able to get out of his own way. The ghost story was good. I would read the next book.

first Elle book

I found the writing to be good. the character building was adequate. was pretty invested in the main character. kind of threw me for a loop towards the end with relationship. loved being able to guess who did it. however the narrator did something with some of the sentences where she read through them so quickly you had to rewind them just to understand what she was even saying. no inflection in The voice or in the story on some of them. I had to slow my speed down so I could understand her.

Bones meets paranormal

I greatly enjoyed this book! I felt like I was watching a TV series as I listened so much great description! I loved the character interactions and trying to figure out who done it and why.

Finally!

this would have been a pretty good book but like these books now a days they always have to drag this issue in. I will not be conditioned to this way of thinking. if i was to tell what this issue is i would be accused of prejudice plus audible would probably not have my review posted. other than that it was good. it had a good storyline. the narrator did a good job.

Confused

The story was convoluted. Not sure who I was rooting for SS protagonist? I guessed the murderers but the story took forever to get it there? The five mile clue very confusing as tonwhy added like they needed a ghost clue? I tolerate mind candy but not well I’ll read the next cause I got it already.
