Publisher's summary

Inspired by a chilling true story....

It’s the day of his ex-wife’s wedding when Dan makes the winding mountain journey to a remote cabin for an escape from the life that another man has stepped into.

Less than 48 hours into his reprieve, the forest tranquility is shattered when he looks through a telescope and witnesses the violent abduction of a young woman.

Dan springs into action, but there’s no evidence of an abduction nor reports of a missing woman.

That is, until Dan sees the missing person’s poster for Ivy Trent.

He’s sure it’s the woman he saw get kidnapped just days before. There's only one problem. Ivy disappeared ten years ago.

If you’re searching for a paranormal thriller that you’ll be listening to with the lights on, grab Troubled Spirits today - the first in a series of stand-alone haunted mysteries inspired by true stories.

Kept my attention all the way through.

Dark River Inn kept my attention through the entire book. I liked the balance of a bit of paranormal and the mystery/Detective approach.

Solid listening… the ending seemed a little too quick

Great story, with solid plot. My only issue is that the ending seemed to come along & get tied up way too uneventfully… wish for a more imaginative end then (spoiler) the villain monologuing the full motive & operation of the crime(s).

Best In Awhile

I’ve enjoyed listening to many books here. So far this is one of my favorites! I enjoyed the ghost story and the mystery. I was on the edge of my seat and my mind thought of a different outcome.

WOW! Just wow!

Great story, not scary as some people claim but definitely a little bit spooky. I loved the story and was made even better by not having unnecessary graphic sex scenes as so many authors feel the need to do. For that, I’ll read fifty shades or something along those lines lol I love it when the author is able to give us a good story that keeps me engaged until the very last minute. RIP to the girl who inspired the beginning of the story. :(

Very enjoyable

It was nice listening to an old fashioned mystery thriller from beginning to end without falling asleep, being insulted or terrorized.

Great story!

The book itself was great. Personally, I would have rather read the book than have listened to it. My only dislike about the experience was the male narrator attempting to voice the female segments.

A chillingly unique and intense story

This is the first JR Erickson book that I have read, and it will not be the last. The story was riveting, the characters were flawed, but real, and I was guessing until the end. I loved the paranormal aspects woven perfectly into the protagonist’s investigation. The narrator also an amazing job, and I will gladly listen along to the next Erickson book with his narration.
