Publisher's summary

A Siege of Terra Novella

Nathaniel Garro, the loyalist who betrayed his father Mortarion to warn the Emperor of the horrors of Isstvan, is brought face to face with the hideously changed Primarch.

Listen to it because...

It’s the conclusion of a story that began long ago in Flight of the Eisenstein. A loyalist son confronts his traitorous father.

The story:

As the epic battle for Terra rages and the future of mankind hangs in the balance, former Knight Errant Nathaniel Garro fights among the ashes and fire of the embattled Imperial Palace as the shadow of Horus Lupercal's triumph looms. From the brutal betrayal at Isstvan to the desperate flight of the Eisenstein, through his missions as Malcador the Sigillite's Agentia Primus, Garro's path has drawn him inexorably towards a destiny that can only end in bloodshed.

As he struggles to protect Euphrati Keeler, the first Saint of the Imperial Church, from the horrors of this titanic war, Garro must face his greatest enemy – his father, Mortarion, his former master, and the monstrous liege-lord of the traitorous Death Guard – in a final, shattering confrontation.

Good if you like Garro

Honestly just haven't been a fan of the garro series and don't get the hype. He is to much of a straight up paladin for the 40k setting with no shades of grey in a book funnily enough called knight of grey. I know he is a very popular character he is just over hyped and a mary sue.

Well done

A very well done performance, and a very compelling story with several twists that I did not expect.

Left me in tears

I have read through the HH 2 times now. Every book. Every short story. All of it. Garro's arch is the best one of them all. His struggles. His triumphs. I have been with him through it all. And now, I am honored to be here at the end.

From Terra he came.
With Terra he will remain.
A true knight of Gray.

Toby, your voice is the best one for Garro. I truly appreciate your work and you are an inspiration to me and my budding voice career.

Fantastic listen!

I’ve been waiting for this one for awhile now and it didn’t disappoint! Garro has been a fantastic character to follow and I’m so happy that the writers didn’t throw him away like they could have so easily done.

the epic conclusion of garro and his legendary story

I loved the story however it does jump around slightly in the lore but nothing unnecessary this is definitely worth reading if you're on the fence about it don't be this is an epic Warhammer story not to be skipped.

A Decent Conclusion to Garro's Story

[Contains Spoilers]

Overall, I only wish that this book was a bit longer. However, for being roughly 3 hours long, it definitely had some great moments and insight, especially the one bit where we would see Mortarion's POV, which showcases his inner thoughts during a certain scene that takes place during "Flight of the Eisenstein". Other than that, I believe that this book would've benefited if it was a bit longer. The portrayal of Euphrati Keeler also felt a bit off to me. A bit of a spoiler here, but the novella showed Keeler as becoming doubtful and to a degree, lost her faith. This alone is not the reason for my dislike of the portrayal, the lack of anything that leads up to her change is. It just feels like this came out of nowhere. It would have been better if there was more time dedicated to Keeler and her slow development into becoming what is portrayed in this novella.

Now, the one big thing that really irks me was [MAJOR SPOILERS] the final confrontation between Garro and his gene father. It just feels so generic and at times, unbelievable, with Garro being able to land a few strikes on Mortarion. Even if Mortarion was toying with Garro, again, it just feels so generic, like something you see time and time again. Garro was also able to, at one point, STAND TOE TO TOE WITH MORTARION! WHAT?? Apparently being due to Keeler being a conduit for the emperor's power and giving it to Garro or something, I don't even know. It's just ridiculous.

Still, this is a decent conclusion to Garro's story, I only wished that it was longer because I really feel like there was definitely more that could've been done to better the story. I also feel like the final confrontation needed some work but like I said, overall, a decent conclusion to Garro's story and though it may not seem like it from the review, I still enjoyed the book and actually liked it, maybe because I just love whatever book Garro is in as he is one of my favorite characters with Flight of the Eisenstein being my favorite novel...

Performance wise, it was obviously great, you can never go wrong with Toby Longworth.

was sadly let down.

Garro is by far my favorite character in the franchise. this novella imo did not do Garro justice. it should have been a full novel. There is a lot missing in between this novella and the last garro book. hopefully the have more coming out to fill in that space. I feel Nathaniel Garro deserved better than this novella. The narrator is one of my favorites and did a fantastic job with what he had to work with.
