Publisher's summary

Ramsey Hunt is caught in a spiral no one can save him from, and he’s taking his entire Clan of crow shifters down with him. A broken mating bond has him going insane, and all he can do is try to hold onto his alpha position as long as possible. But when a spirited beauty comes waltzing into his MC’s clubhouse demanding an audience with him, he can’t help but think he’s dreaming her up. She’s got paperwork saying he’s her mate, and this shifter has one serious stubborn streak in her. All he wants to do is go insane in peace, but she isn’t having it. And now the real work begins. He’s got to sever one mating bond completely if he wants a shot at survival. And if this crazy plan works, he might just have a second shot at happiness, too.

Vina wants a crow. She doesn’t care who they are, as long as their shifter animal is a crow. They mate for life, and she’s tired of being pushed around by the men she dates. So when a crow comes up on the shifter matchmaking service she applied for three years ago, she has a good feeling her stars are about to change. That is, until she meets Ramsey. The half-crazed Alpha of the biggest, baddest Clan of crow shifters in existence isn’t going to make pairing up easy. And the more Vina gets to know him, the more she thinks it wasn’t him who signed up for a mate after all.

And now Vina has two choices - cut and run from the storm coming for the Red Dead Mayhem Clan, or dig her heels in and rip that old mating bond out of Ramsey. Up until now, no one has appreciated her, but what if...just what if...she could be the one to save the crows?

Content Warning: Explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets. Intended for mature audiences.

A+

Great story and good narration. It was hard to put down. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Quirky and fun

I read the book about a year ago and enjoyed it. Enjoyed revisiting the story again. I liked the quirky female and her strength. No milk toast, simpleton femail, but a strong female who can protect her own.

A Crow MC

Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥
Narrator Performance: 🎧🎧🎧.5

This is the first book in the Red Dead Mayhem series and it totally captured my attention. I always enjoy Joyce’s work and this story was no different.

I found Vina delightful. She’s weird in an innocent, goody two shoes way. Ramsey was dark and broken and her lightness was the perfect thing to fix him.

I really liked the way the romance blossomed in this. It was slow in a different sort of way. When you mix an animal and person in one body the two don’t always agree. That played a big part in the way that Vina’s and Ramsey’s relationship grew.

Lynhurst’s performance was good but I think it could have been better. I liked her pace but she needed to put some more definition between the characters. That’s what makes a great narrator IMO.

Great

I love listening to this narrator.
Ramsey is an alpha of a crow clan. But he is losing it because the woman his crow chose as his mate didn't want him back.
Vina is a moose who has been left behind by someone she chose too.
Can these two heal each other? Or will the alpha drive his whole clan crazy.

Good story but some things were fuzzy

Good storyline, and very fun to listen to. There were parts of it that didn't make sense, or we're really fuzzy on what she was trying to get across in her wording. There are times that the storyline just went off in a different direction and I couldn't understand what was going on. I would like to know more about the motorcycle club and the hierarchy, what everybody's role is in the story. Such as there's talk of ghosts of slain members of the club, and the author really doesn't explain them very well. Why they're there, or if it's in somebody's head, and why they even died... Still a good storyline and very well executed, there's just a lot of holes in it.

Mate for life

This is an emotional one.
She wants a crow cause they mate for life. The one she wants is mated to someone else.
His crow found a mate that rejected him, now he is losing everything.
Can she save him?
Standalone with a small series storyline cliffhanger.
This couples story ends with a HEA.

Eh

I wasn't able to finish. The character sounded like they were in high school and well the shiffer part was cool, the whole plot seem to be a badly written. All together, just not my cup of tea

couldn't finish

I'm not getting into this one. I'm not sure if it's the story, or if the narrator is way off.
oh, no, nope, the sexy part does not work at all.

Ok, I guess

For this listener, this was a toss up between giving this either 2 stars or 3 stars. Ultimately I’ve chosen the 2-star rating. Why you ask? This short story was ok. I didn’t think it was particularly exciting or new (other than the shifters were different species than I’m used to reading). I did deduct one full star due to the narration. The narrator sounds like a little girl. Our main character Vina was around 30 years old and extremely naive, so maybe that is why this narrator was selected. But for me, it detracted. I guess you get used to the voice eventually. If its one thing I don’t like, its a sex scene where someone sounds like a kid. Um, no! I don’t know if I’ll continue this series if the other books are narrated by Kathryn Lynhurst. Perhaps I should try to find the ebooks for this series. Maybe that would help!
