    "Exceptional!"

I loved this book. Very different story. Not predictable. Rich and wholesome. A "feel good" treat.

    "Wait for it!"

This book started out very slowly. If it were handy, I would have put it down and started another....but... The naïveté of the main character becomes the source of many lessons and rich history lessons further in. Lily's life lessons and an exciting plot quickly became a story to rival others in its genre. Just wait for it! It is worth it!

Wonderful characters and an uplifting story. A coming of age story transforming the heroin from a passive limp nobody to a vibrant exciting somebody

    "A quirky, fun read"
Where does Wonderland Creek rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Better than most, because it IS Lynn Austin. It's quirky and lighthearted like "A Proper Pursuit", but doesn't handle the many issues with such grace...

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both. It was quite amusing having a protagonist talk about the unbelievability of a life situation that wouldn't have been believable in a book...

    Any additional comments?

This book is a welcome addition to Austin's collection of well-done inspirational novels.
I am normally not a big kate Forbes fan, but her voice is actually well-suited to this one.

This is not Austin's best book, but is well worth the light read.

    Story
"Not very original-too much like 'Christy'"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I always enjoy listening to Lynn Austins books but this story line was just too much like Catherine Marshall's 'Christy' written over 50 years ago. 'Christy' is better because it is based on the life of Catherine's mother when she went into the Appalachian mountains to teach during the depression as a young woman of 18

Has Wonderland Creek turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not at all. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't recently listened to 'Christy' because it has been years since I've read the book and probably wouldn't have recognized so many similarities.

Have you listened to any of Kate Forbes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to her before and she has grown on me. I think she does a great job performing Lynn Austin's books and would be hesitant to buy and of Austin's books if she wasn't narrating it.

Could you see Wonderland Creek being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Ummmm-it kinda has been made into a series (Christy) and I believe Kelly Martin was Christy and would do a fine job as Alice Ann.

    Any additional comments?

I found the character of Lily to be annoying. She was a preachy and manipulative old woman who had an answer and Bible lesson ready for every question asked to her. She and God were so close she knew when it was in his will to lie, misrepresent the truth and judge people! (she warned Allie about Maggie right after the two had met-but later seemed to understand her pain and lack of faith) she was just TOO perfect and sinless. It just bugs me when any character, especially an older one, knows everything and has the correct answer for every situation and every situation turns out exactly as predicted. I won't give examples because that would spoil the book for some people and they might not see her as I do- she just got on my nerves.

    Story
"Entertaining beginnings of a young woman life."
What did you love best about Wonderland Creek?

This endearing story had it all, intrigue, suspense, humour, friendship and love.

What did you like best about this story?

Although very entertaining, this story represented compassion at it's best.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Mac almost got shot for the second time. And of course Alice and the wild cat.

If you could rename Wonderland Creek, what would you call it?

    New Awakenings.

    Any additional comments?

Highly recommended book. I will be listening to this one again..

    "Good Book!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Wonderland Creek to be better than the print version?

Have not read the print but the audio was great!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wonderland Creek?

There were many memorable moments! This girl certainly changed from a selfish self absorbed girl to a loving caring sweetheart! Many adventures and things to keep you interested and wanting to jump in and lend a hand! Many characters and many heartbreaks and many kindnesses, stubbornness, mysteries... IT HAS IT ALL. You will be confused and pleasantly surprised! Awesome job on making each character interesting and gave me the info and facts on each one, which to me, makes you really get more into the story.

What about Kate Forbes’s performance did you like?

Mrs. Kate Forbes did a superb job on the performance of this book! The characters in the story were preformed as well as they were written.

    "Very entertaining."

I really liked the tranformation of Alice.
I think the story really made the plight of the mountain people during the depression come alive.
