Six-time Christy Award winner Lynn Austin has won a loyal following for her inspiring historical fiction. In Wonderland Creek, young Chicago-area librarian Alice Grace Ripley is left heartbroken when her fiancé breaks up with her just as the Great Depression forces her out of a job. To escape the local gossip, Alice volunteers to deliver donated books to a library in rural Kentucky. There she discovers that God still has a plan for her after all.

Loved the different voices. She was a little slow but it was nice in that the story wasn't rushed and I didn't feel like I was being hurried in my mental vision of what was going on.
Wanting more. I wanted to know more on different plots and what happened. Did the book get published. Did the happily ever after happen. Did the town get a revival. So many questions!
This book was wonderful. I love the way that the author was the story. Her word choice and lyrical almost fairytale inclusions of hints about what would happen with the story amazing. I was intrigued we cannot wait to hear what would happen next. The characters were lifelike. The author brought the characters to life as well. Her voices and emotion made it enjoyable to listen to.
This wonderfully delightful story, full of history, was so entertaining! It made me laugh and yearn and wonder. The narrator does a fabulous job of acting and using realistic voices. A definite winner!
Lynn Austin is a wonderful author. I love how she blends comedy with the serious. Kate Forbes is an excellent narrator. I want to listen to all of Lynn Austin's books.
This book started out very slowly. If it were handy, I would have put it down and started another....but... The naïveté of the main character becomes the source of many lessons and rich history lessons further in. Lily's life lessons and an exciting plot quickly became a story to rival others in its genre. Just wait for it! It is worth it!
Wonderful characters and an uplifting story. A coming of age story transforming the heroin from a passive limp nobody to a vibrant exciting somebody
