Great ending

So it was a good story but not what I expected, I’m not much into crime dramas nor did an expect one from this author. I liked how the story line tied in at the end but just beware that this is not her normal story theme

Story of Contrasts During the Great Depression

Wonderland Creek is an amazingly truthful look at Christianity and humanity. I enjoyed it from the beginning, identifying with Alice Grace Ripley's love of books and libraries. I remember carrying home 8 to 10 books a week from our school library when I was in middle school and escaping into them, one at a time. I also understood the order and peace of working in a library, since I volunteered in the school library, getting first pick over all the new and returned books. I had to laugh at Alice's unrealistic view of life and love when her first romance turned south, and her boyfriend "dumps" her for reading a book at a funeral. An over protected youngest child of a minister and his very straight laced wife, Alice found safety in reading, and was very much the center of her own universe. Sweet and innocent and unbeknownst to her, of course. Life cannot be learned from a book. Her journey to the rural Kentucky to deliver donated books to their tiny library is the BEGINNING of life for Alice, of finding out who God really is, and of seeing His hand at work. In a place where there's no indoor plumbing, no electricity, no telephones, no niceties, only reality . . . and the quiet of the creek, the birds, and having no choice but to help others, Alice is renewed . . . and she hears from God.

A delightful surprise

This was my first Lynn Austin book so I had no idea what to expect. Ms. Austin is a very good writer, weaving gospel into a very fun and adventurous story. The main character was so annoying at first but as she learned more about life, God and herself she began to change. Two cautions, first the ending seemed very rushed to me and left me with some unanswered questions, definitely wanted more. Secondly, I would have loved to see more development with the romance. If you like Christian novels and a fun story that keeps you wanting more I would recommend this book.

Slow start, but intriguing ending

It took me a little while to get into the story, but a few chapters in I finally started to enjoy it more. By the end, I was eager to find out what happened.

The narrator for this book is excellent as well!

From book world to real world

A young lady moves from immature selfish bookish person into a loving, caring, mature person through many adventuresduring the depression in Imaginary Ozark community. The characters come alive and the well researched book is worth your time. I loved it.

Really great novel

The narrator did an excellent job with her voice for each character. Lynn Austin excels in bringing her characters to life. You get to know each personality. The ones you get to like and the ones you don’t. She has that gift of a wonderful story teller. I enjoy all of her books.
