Publisher's summary

Jada left home at the age of sixteen, running from her own demons and the horrors of physical abuse inflicted by her mother’s boyfriend. She partied hard, and life seemed good when she was with Born, the neighborhood kingpin whose name was synonymous with money, power, and respect. But all his love couldn’t save her from a crack addiction. Jada goes from crack addict and prostitute to survivor and back again before she finds the strength to live for herself and come out on top. And her stormy romance with one of the fiercest hustlers on the streets makes White Lines one of the most unforgettable urban love stories of the year.

A Real Life Story!

Would you listen to White Lines again? Why?

Yes, I would listen to White Lines again. Tracy Brown is a good author and the characters in the book makes it a real life story. It makes your heart sink in some of the chapters and in others it keeps you wondering what the character is going to do next. In life, we should never say never because one does not know what they will do unless they are in the situation.

What was one of the most memorable moments of White Lines?

The most memorable moments in White Lines is when Jada's baby's life wasn't affected by the drugs that she was doing throughout her pregnancy and the lack of prenatal care that she did not receive for her unborn child. Jada started out thinking about her needs and wants but in the end the "mother's love" for her child is what every mother should have.

Which character – as performed by Allyson Johnson – was your favorite?

Jada was my favorite character although she is nothing like myself. However, she went through some trials and tribulations in life but in the end Jada displays how we can be survivors. Sunny was off the chain!! It sounds like she had good parents and a good upbringing, however, the streets help groom her personality and her mouth into the way it was.

If you could take any character from White Lines out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would definitely take Marquis aka "Born" to dinner. Real black men are rare and Marquis is one of a kind. He believes in family and being exclusive in his relationships. He NEVER cheated on Jada even though he had plenty of opportunities to do so. Marquis was caught up in the "game" but he provided and looked out for those close to him.

Any additional comments?

I am skeptical about purchasing White Lines II because of the reviews but am going to go ahead and get it because I am not one that will take the word of another; I prefer to read/listen to it for myself and be the judge.

Absolutely Loved It!!!

This is the best book ever. The audiobook skipped a little bit but hopefully that will be fixed soon other than that I loved this book. I'm listening to part II right now. This is a new found author for me so far I like her, keep up the good work.

good read

What did you like best about this story?

I felt the characters were relatable. Her depiction of these characters made them likable even at their lowest points.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Jada finally pulling herself up by her bootstraps and making a change on her own.

A+

A great book!
The reader has a voice I had to get used to. Coming from New York myself I was irritated by the southern accent she used for the characters in the book. Overall this is a must read! It has a great storyline.
