Rumors and Gossip . . . The lifeblood of London

When Olivia Bevelstoke is told that her new neighbor may have killed his fiancée, she doesn't believe it for a second, but, still, how can she help spying on him, just to be sure? So she stakes out a spot near her bedroom window, cleverly concealed by curtains, watches, and waits . . . and discovers a most intriguing man, who is definitely up to something. Sir Harry Valentine works for the boring branch of the War Office, translating documents vital to national security.

He's not a spy, but he's had all the training, and when a gorgeous blonde begins to watch him from her window, he is instantly suspicious. But just when he decides that she's nothing more than an annoyingly nosy debutante, he discovers that she might be engaged to a foreign prince, who might be plotting against England. And when Harry is roped into spying on Olivia, he discovers that he might be falling for her himself . . .

good fun read

What made the experience of listening to What Happens in London the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed this book. It was a good "light" listen. The story was interesting, drawing a picture of two characters and then showing us how they meet and fall in love. I'm a sucker for a romance. (especially when it doesn't get too racy).

I can't say enough about the performance and the story. I loved Olivia & Harry and Sebastian is just hysterical! This is a laugh out loud joyride. Highly Recommended!!!

Clever classic

Ah, Julia Quinn.. read by the perfect Ms. Landor. How many regency romances can be told and still have a clever angle? This is one such story and with a few laugh-out-loud moments it is a fun listen.

Favorite series yet

In past 5-6 weeks I have listened to Bridgerton and Rokesby series. And now this Bevelstone series. This book is my favorite of all of them yet! I was surprised by the kidnapping but it made a nice twist. It could have actually come a bit earlier and taken longer. And I Kept expecting Olivia to find the note he had received while at her house, maybe it had fallen out of his pocket while they were almost to home plate. I do find it funny none of the heroines are virgins by the time they marry. But. Super good book

An enjoyable read with lots of great characters

The hero and heroine are adorable - the old enemies to lovers troupe doesn’t disappoint. The complexities of foreign diplomacy add some intrigue. However, I’m not sure the back story of the heroes drunken father and brother play too much into the main storyline, so it seemed kind of disjointed.
Overall enjoyable and Rosalyn Landor narration was 5 star as usual.
