Publisher's summary

Frontier Justice is the first book in the post-apocalypse Survivalist series by Dr. Arthur Bradley. (Series Order: Frontier Justice, Anarchy Rising, Judgment Day, Madness Rules, Battle Lines, and Finest Hour).

The Superpox-99 virus has wiped out nearly the entire human race. Governments have collapsed. Cities have become graveyards filled with unspeakable horror. People have resorted to scavenging from the dead, or taking from the living. The entire industrialized world has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, decaying bodies, and feral animals.

To stay alive, U.S. Deputy Marshal Mason Raines must forage for food, water, and gasoline while outgunning those who seek to take advantage of the apocalyptic anarchy. Together with his giant Irish wolfhound, Bowie, he aligns with survivors of the town of Boone in a life and death struggle against a gang of violent criminals. With each deadly encounter, Mason is force to accept his place as one of the nation's few remaining lawmen. In a world now populated by escaped convicts, paranoid mutants, and government hit squads, his only hope to save the townspeople is to enforce his own brand of frontier justice.

Halfway across the country, a killer is released from prison. With hopes set on a fresh start, he rescues a young girl desperate to get home. As they travel across the wasteland that once was the United States, they must call upon every bit of strength and courage to survive not only the horrors of the new world but also a violent government agenda.

I really like where this is going

It is a great mix of themes resulting in a unique take on SHTF. I like that so far there is hope and a balance of good v evil...with good making headway. Narration is pretty good. On to the next one!

I decided to ignore the negative reviews.
That turned out to have been a good idea.
This was a nice listen...

Enjoyed the story but was left wanting more

I love the post-apocalyptic genre and I was beginning to like the characters when suddenly the story was over. I enjoyed this book but it felt like something was missing since the story ended so quickly. With that said I'm probably just being too critical since I enjoy epic length books. I can't wait to start the next book.

It’s like a 4 hour long movie trailer.

I wouldn’t know about the story, it seemed promising, but the narrators cliche’ action movie trailer voice killed it. Not to mention his disregard for punctuation or courtesy pauses. Don’t buy the audio book, buy a paperback.

Over acting in audio form.

The narrator seems to have the need overly dramatize everything. And the writer uses way too many similes, sometimes it's okay to describe something once without a strange alternate description.

Well written

Great story. And a couple of lessons learned along the way. Sadly, we are closer to such an event than many may think.

First review

Any additional comments?

This is my first review, so dont flame too hard.
Once you get past the fact that the narrator sounds like a 1940s dick tracy radiodrama, there ends up being a good story. The dog is one of my favorite characters. Well worth the listen.

Don't Pass this one up!

I read some of the reviews on this book before I purchased it and almost decided to pass on it because of the bad reviews on the narrator. However, I am a survivalist in training and I am interested in all literature on the subject. I noticed the narrator was changed for the rest of the books in this series, so I decided to endure the first book for consistency sake. I am sure glad I did. The narrator has difficulty at the beginning of the book, but only with the narration, certainly not with the dialogue. He just needs to learn when to pause appropriately , and he does fine further into the book. Jamie Buck, however, is a master at portraying the dialogue between the characters. In this respect, he is SUPERB! I am sorry to see him not being the narrator for the rest of the series. The novel is well written and story is very interesting and holds your attention. I only wish the book was longer, and I think they get longer in the series. I will definitely be reading, I mean listening to, them all.

Loved this entire series

I really enjoyed this entire series. The characters stayed true to themselves and had quirky twists in their personalities (a Buddhist pacifist that likes to fight and is in prison for murder for example). I enjoyed jumping between simultaneous stories (it keeps the story moving along nicely). I recommend this book not just for those who enjoy prepping stories, but for those who enjoy well paced action books.
