Publisher's summary

The Perry family's new house is perfect - except for the weird behavior of the neighbors, and that odd smell coming from a dark corner in the basement. Pity no one warned the family about the house. Now it's too late. Because the darkness at the bottom of the basement stairs is rising.

Trashy Attempt to Scare

First, as far as scary events go, the book was lacking. No spin chilling terrors to be had. Second, what’s the point of the literary porn scenes? Is Little trying to say the ghost is a sex freak? Is that meant to be scary? Deleting the other Little books I had saved.

Typical Bently style!

Don't listen to the negativity! This book was great! The characters and story.....deeply established. As I have come to expect from this author.

Heard it

Ho hum. Disjointed story telling. Character development was good but chapters in the book held little relevance to the theme. Would not recommend. It was a disappointing read.

Loved it!

I loved listening to this. I am a fan of the paranormal. There were some raunchy parts. The reader was clear and read very well. I recommend this title to anyone who likes paranormal stories.

Haunted house story at its best

A haunted house story that would have done Stephen King proud. Vivid horror and a story line that carried it through.

Excellant

This was my first Bentley Little book and I loved it. Great story and gave me the creeps.

too many unnecessary story lines

narration was really good..but..the story really did not need the explicit sexual situations..did not contribute to the story whatsoever. And the 2 chapters regarding the teachings of the sacked teacher...completely useless...I skipped them completely and it made no difference in the story.

Real fear

The story started slow and a bit boring. Then it got weird and disturbing. To finally scary where it gave you real fear to find out what happens next. All of it was wonderful up until the ending. Very disappointed after such a wonderful story to finish so badly. The ending had such great potential. If I re-read this book I would finish it at the point where his son is at the hospital. So the ending doesn’t ruin the rest of the book again.

Typical Bentley Little

Writing is great as he always does. Story has really great moment.

The ending. Absolute trash. How hard is it to come up with a good ending without making it so sad sack. Haven’t read Little in years so I thought I’d try him again. Nope he hasn’t changed. Guess I’m spoiled by real horror with Barker, Masterton, or the master Edward Lee.
