Publisher's summary

A forgotten secret. A shocking discovery. A sacrifice of love that will bring Connor Evans to his knees.

A story of hope and redemption from number one New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury.

Airline pilot Connor Evans and his wife, Michele, seem to be the perfect couple living what looks like a perfect life. Then, a plane goes down in the Pacific Ocean. One of the casualties is Kiahna Siefert, a flight attendant Connor knew well. Too well.

Kiahna’s will is very clear: Before her seven-year-old son, Max, can be turned over to the state, he must spend the summer with the father he’s never met, the father who doesn’t know he exists - Connor Evans. Now, will the presence of one lonely child and the truth he represents destroy Connor’s family? Or is it possible for healing and hope to appear in the shape of a seven-year-old boy?

What A Story!

What an excellent Christian story. It made me smile, and it made me want to cry. What a talented author! And Joyce Bean did an excellent performance as narrator! Well worth the credit. I think this one is a keeper!

emotionally layered and touching...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. It was much more layered than I thought it would be.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Max the little boy was hands down my favorite character, it was impossible not to fall in love with him and want all his joy and happiness to come true. From the simple faith to his ability to win your heart...

Which scene was your favorite?

The final scene is one of the best although I greatly appreciated Michelle's visit with Loren, Connor's dad. The depth that was given to the characters made you love each one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and nearly did...it took me a weekend to have it finished.

Any additional comments?

Karen Kingsbury created a masterpiece in this book. Although predictable at moments, the depth she gave her characters and their dilemmas had me crying on and off the entire way through. It is not a light read and yet when I finished it I have a lightness and hope that burns bright. I read/listen to stories to find beauty in life or rather things as they can be with God as the center. Ms. Kingsbury gave a little more light to the darkness with this novel.

Good Story

I enjoyed the book and the reading but was distracted by the music during the reading. Wish they had done without that, other than that, I enjoyed the book.

Beautifully written and superbly narrated

I am reminded of the fruit of the Spirit. It is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, All of these in this story so beautifully portrayed in the characters.

The author draws your heart so close to the little boy who struggles with sorrow, holding on to his mother's love, patiently waiting, trusting her that what she has told him about God is true. That He is faithfull no matter what.

This story brought out emotions in my soul that I know will remind of the importance of forgiveness, for without it love is hidden and unable to allow us to fly in the way God intented.

A Story of Faith fulfilled

This story will tug at your heart and frustrate your emotions and please your hopes as the story moves to completion. I enjoyed listening to the story unfold as I worked in my workshop and became impatient as interruptions occurred along the way. Great story!!
