Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon enchanted scores of fans with Outlander, her electrifying historical saga set in 18th-century Scotland. Now the sequel sweeps listeners back into the past as Claire relates more of her perilous sojourn there with her Scottish warrior husband, James Fraser. Twenty years after her strange journey back in time, Claire has returned to Scotland with her daughter, determined to share with her the secret she has harbored since her time travel. Still longing to know the fate of her beloved warrior, she recounts the story of her stay with him in the intrigue-ridden court of Charles Stuart and their attempt to avert the doomed Highlands uprising at Culloden. As her story unfolds, it reveals implications more far-reaching than even Claire could have guessed.

Narrator Davina Porter's gift for expression captures the history and flavor of a harsh place and time, and gives it the polish of a warm and engaging love story.

Low magic, stealth Fantasy - worth every penny

If you could sum up Dragonfly in Amber in three words, what would they be?

Evocative, Funny, Infuriating

What other book might you compare Dragonfly in Amber to and why?

SM Stirling's Nantucket Series, but his characters seemed to be better able to affect the future.

Which character – as performed by Davina Porter – was your favorite?

I love when Clare gets sarcastic, Davina Porter's voice is perfect for that.

If you could rename Dragonfly in Amber, what would you call it?

There and back and there and back again.

Any additional comments?

Love this series, but be warned that it is a romance as well as having just a touch of magic.

Davina makes the charcters real!

I read all the books when they first came out 25 years ago I watch the show I'm going through and reading the books over and over again and now the audio Divina really makes the characters come alive and real she does a fabulous job reading the story it's great with audio you hear things differently than the way you read them and it comes across as almost to different stories don't add some parts there's a few things I missed even after reading the book more than once that I heard in the audio great just love it!

As always with Outlander series, wonderful !

Love, love, love this audiobook series. The writing is beautiful. The audiobook performance is superb. And, since it is a 40 hour book, you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.

I'm hooked!

Would you listen to Dragonfly in Amber again? Why?

I will be reading this series again, and probably will be one I read even as I get older! I love the characters, and all the twists. Plus what girl doesn't like a little love in her life. Its not overly mushy, nor too risqué. I find myself sitting at the edge of my seat. Dying to know what happens next!

What other book might you compare Dragonfly in Amber to and why?

To new to compare to any other books, as I am just figuring out what I like/dislike.

Which scene was your favorite?

The ending of this book is amazing, from the beginning I was torn and didn't want to continue without Jamie. The way the book was ended gave me hope, Thank God!

Who was the most memorable character of Dragonfly in Amber and why?

Obviously Jamie, but also Brianna. You don't get much time to know more about her, but I'm looking forward to seeing how she ties in latter in the series.

Any additional comments?

The audio cuts out suddenly, so at first I kept thinking my device died, or the app crashed. No worries, I got use to it after a while.

Beautiful and interesting story read by a superb narrator

I don’t have enough words to describe the sheer creativity of Galbadon. I gained knowledge, was entertained and thoroughly enjoyed it. At first I thought the story might be too long, but it masterfully wove along with out plateaus of filler leading to boredom. It has everything, sex- not extreme by any measure, battles, history, magic, love. I recommend highly

Rape isn't a good plot device

Aside from the authors fixation on rape as a plot device, the book was good and the narrator is excellent. I do get tired of skipping over the multiple rapes and attempted rapes in all her books. Mayhap Ms. Gabaldon could use a good therapist ??? Or perhaps better ideas for her plot twists ...
