With the exception of the emphasis on romance, the books is quite interesting. I read it because of the high ratings of the other books in this series, and look forward to reading the rest of them.
I don't usually do the Vampire thing, but once I started listening to this book, I couldn't walk away from it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Loved all of characters!
This book was recommended to me by a friend who also loves Sookie Stackhouse. This series is not for me. I couldn't bring myself to care about the characters. This is also a series and you can tell that each book is going to be about a different character from this book. I just didn't care enough about them to want to read more. Sorry.
I have never been this disappointed in an audio book. Well, not so much the BOOK but the
READER! I listened to the first chapter and just couldn't go any further. No only does the reader take a very AUDIBLE catch breath before almost every sentence, but he doesn't change his voice, attitude or characterization for ANY of the characters! If I'd wanted just to be read to - any one of my male relatives would have done. A REALLY good audio book reader brings the characters to life - but not this guy. If you really want to hear how it SHOULD be done and you like vampire stories - check our Kiss of Midnight read by Hillary Huber. SHE knows how to bring characters to life!
This book was an enormous let down. I'm sure the book itself is good, but the reader absolutely ruined it for me!
This is my first Brotherhood book and it was well worth my time and credit. I have never read anything like it. Great Book!
This is a great author. The first book was good - I'm on the third one and they keep getting better. Highly recommend the series. You'll fall in love with the brotherhood.
I started with book 3 because it was on sale and had to go back to book one and two. This is the BEST vampire series I have listen to. Love it love it! get this series. Wrath the Great Blind King, the dark lover of my dreams. J.R made them more like human beings, just a different species, they don't feed on humans they have to feed on their own kind. female to male and vice a versa. They eat and drink regular food and drink. they do not heal as fast as the regular vampire series, but they do heal in 48 hours. J.R. made them a little more humanistic. That's what I love about it!
This book is not complicated. It is just plain vampire fun. I enjoyed listening to it. The narrator is really good for this book and helps make listening to the book more interesting.
I was in love with the BDB series well before I started getting into audio books, and for the most part that hasn't waivered, so if you're looking for a great para-romance, you've found it.
What I had to review about was that I think Jim Frangione is the BEST narrator out there. I wish that there were more like him. He doesn't overdo the accents (and Marissa's could EASILY be overdone), he has a lovely voice, and I really wish some of the other para-romance authors out there (Suz Brockmann?!?!) would pick him up to read their work.
