Publisher's Summary

Bouncing from bed to bed on the Upper East Side, Kingsley Edge is brilliant, beautiful, and utterly debauched. No carnal act or chemical compound can relieve his self-destructive apathy - only Søren, the one person he loves without limit or regret. He plans to open the ultimate BDSM club: a dungeon playground for New York's A-list that'll change the scene forever. The club becomes Kingsley's obsession - and he's enlisted some tough-as-nails help. His new assistant, Sam, is smart, secretive, and totally immune to seduction (by men, at least). Still, their combined expertise in domination can't subdue the man who would kill their dream. The enigmatic Reverend Fuller won't rest until King's dream is destroyed. It's one man's sacred mission against another's.

Contains mature themes.

    "LOVE Tiffany Reisz!"
Would you listen to The King again? Why?

YES - it covered a lot of ground & made Kingsley more "approachable"......he wasn't my favorite character until now!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kingsley, by far! I appreciate the internal conflict he has throughout the book & how he expresses himself.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I think I like Lilly Rhodes' narration in The Angel better.......but Ms Hart did just fine.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Naughty Emperor's New Clothes - your grade school story is all grown up!

    Any additional comments?

Tiff - please keep up the series, or start another one. I love your writing style and conversation antics! Thanks so much for the entertainment (and education!! wink wink!!)

"I LOVED TO LISTENING TO THE AUDIOBOOK AS MUCH AS I"
Would you listen to The King again? Why?

HELLS YEAH!!! I read it before i listened to the audiobook and i'll totally listen to it again. I love Tiffany's book. I'm re-reading / re-listening to them all again and i'll arrive to the king soon!! very soon!!

What did you like best about this story?

Knowing Kingsley!!! He's been in my heart since i read the prince and now i love him like crazy.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I loved when Soren said "I love you" to kingsley in danish. Soren was so proud of Kingsley, so did i!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes! Every moment when Kingsley was so vulnerable, so heartbroken, so lonely, so desperate :'(

    Any additional comments?

When I finished reading The King for the first time, I felt like something was missing. I felt like my best friend, who I fell in love with, was gone and now I was alone in a very dark room. I felt nostalgic and I wanted my best friend back. That’s how I felt when I finished reading this book. And then, 2 days later, the audiobook was out, and I was extremely happy about it because I would listen to his voice, listen to his sexy French accent, listen to his memories directly from him. I was so ecstatic. And then I knew the audiobook was narrated by a woman, so I got confused. “Why would they do that?” I asked Tiffany, she told me she didn’t decide on those kind of things. The only thing I could do was to get over it and enjoy the audiobook, so I did. AND I LOVED TO LISTENING TO THE AUDIOBOOK AS MUCH AS I LOVED READING THE BOOK.

I have to be honest, it was hard for me to understand the French accent, but not because it was a bad narration, but because it was perfect. Elizabeth Hart does speak in a flawless French accent, or any other accent. Her Welsh accent for Grace was beautiful. Her Texan accent for Justin was brilliant. Her British accent for Felicia was strong and intimidating. Her Australian accent for Lockie was sexy as hell and her British/American accent for Søren was just perfection. She did amazing in the narration.

By listening to her narration, I could feel all the emotions, the longing, the angst, the ache in Kingsley’s heart. It was heartbreaking. Feeling all those emotions that Kingsley was feeling made me cry, and also made me love him more. I could also feel the pride of Søren for his friend/brother/former-lover. It was beautiful to read how Søren was so worried about Kingsley, and it was more beautiful to see how he didn’t give up on King. Not one time. Not even for that week when they didn’t speak, Søren never gave up on King and always believed in him. One of my favorite parts in the book was when Søren welcomed Kingsley to the kingdom. It was a real resurrection for Kingsley. Søren brought him back to life, and not to just keep living the life Kingsley was living, or wasting, but to a better life, with a purpose. Another favorite moment in the book was in the opening party of the club, when Søren lied to Kingsley about the translation from the Danish to the English of “Jeg elskar dig”.

I’m gonna make a short list (I hope so) of the things that I loved about this book:

    Kingsley’s sharp sense of humor.
Sam: She is the best bartender/assistant/bestfriend that Kingsley could ever get. I’m so glad she had her HEA.
Mistress Felicia: I can only say this: she’s as lethal as Soren.
Blaise: I loved her submission to Kingsley but I also loved how she challenged him. She had some “glowing” moments with Søren *jealous*.
“Have you ever had sex in the back of a rolls royce?” Now I know how was Kingsley’s first time *smirk*
Grace: Just like The Saint, the story of 20 years ago was told from the present, almost two years after The Mistress finishes, and this time it’s Grace who is listening to the story of the sinners. She was so understanding with Kingsley and they had a very touching moment at the end of the book.
Kingsley and Søren’s memories from St. Ignatius: I fell in love with both of them when I read The Prince and reading more memories of them from when they were teenagers was like christmas for me. A very kinky sexy christmas.
The rebirth of the friendship between Kingsley and Søren: Or is it more like the birth of a new relationship, more than friends, they were family.
I will have to stop here, otherwise this list won’t ever end. The last thing I can say is that I loved The King as much as I loved The Saint. How couldn’t I love it if it gave me more reasons to love Søren *sigh*. It also showed me the real King. The true King who earned his kingdom. I missed Nora/Eleanor, she wasn’t as much as I’d love to, but I’m sure there will be plenty of her in The Virgin. Is it March 31st already? 4 months are a short time, right?

Read the review of the book here. It includes a very sexy book trailer with a lot of pictures of Soren and Kingsley. And I think the song is just perfect to describe Kingsley’s life: DANGEROUS.

I love everyone's individual stories. So much detail, little overlap, just many things filled in. I don't even know how Tiffany does it, but she does. Beautiful, dark, deep... I can't find my way out of her novels, and I love it.

    "Excellent Narrator"
Would you consider the audio edition of The King to be better than the print version?

They're both wonderful....Elizabeth Hart brings the audiobook to life. Since there are only two books left in the Original Sinners series hope they continue to use Elizabeth Hart for The Virgin and The Queen. The Siren, The Prince, The Angle and The Mistress audiobooks all had different narrators and none of them got it right. I purchase audiobooks for the listening pleasure and if it's a bad narrator I won't purchase the book. I read the reviews and listen to the preview before I make my purchase. Elizabeth Hart/Tiffany Reisz is an automatic buy. The Virgin audiobook isn't available for pre-order yet but I'll purchase the Kindle version when it comes out Tuesday.

What did you like best about this story?

Kingsley and Søren reunite after more than 10 years because Eleanor gets arrested.

Which character – as performed by Elizabeth Hart – was your favorite?

    All of them.....she was amazing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Looking for love in all the wrong places?

    Any additional comments?

Please have Elizabeth Hart narrate both The Virgin and The Queen.

    "The Kingdom"
What did you love best about The King?

    Discovering Kingsley story.

What does Elizabeth Hart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to the characters. Excellent performance.

    Any additional comments?

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night, in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. —Lawrence of Arabia
This was my first read by author Tiffany Reisz. When I began reading the novel I was lost.
I did a little research on her website and began to place the characters together and continued on. The Saint and The King coincide within the same time frame.
I am quite intrigued by how skillfully the author wrote the plot.
I perceived some deep confessions were about to surface and it wasn't peaches and cream with a cup of tea.
When Kingsley arrives to Grace’s home in London, it seems his emotions are in disarray. I discovered throughout the story the complexity of the characters relationships. Kingsley begins recounting how it all began twenty-years ago “Søren happened.
Kingsley is a masochist with a heart. (I don't bloody care what anyone else says Kingsley has a heart. He just deals with issues differently.)
He is a perplexed individual, makes matters more difficult than need be, stubborn the majority of the time and takes what he wants (judge, jury and executor). His heart only belongs to one; has and always will until he takes his last breath.
Kingsley, is one of Reisz’s most unique, fascinating, charming, thrilling, and is temptation in the flesh (book character). In this novel the author provides an in depth view (to the core, soul) of Kingsley’s personalty traits (mental and emotional state of mind, trigger points). We see it from Kingsley’s viewpoint.
This story begins to fill in the pieces to the puzzle to prior novels in this series. We are taken back to Kingsley’s childhood, introduction to Soren, Nora, the creation of the Eighth Circle and all the in betweens. The creation of a union with indestructible bonds between the trio.
Reisz’s writing is perfection. She allows the reader to explore a world which many may have limited or zero knowledge (she provided me a 101 intro class) and a controversial subject in a non-offensive manner. Tremendously enjoyed these riveting characters and conveys the impression of being realistic.
The internal conflicts the characters endure between the mind and heart, reasoning, judgement, desire, sadist, masochist, being a switch, pain, betrayal, and loss.
The fact of the matter is they seemed to have found and accepted what makes an individual unique(who they are) is the true foundation in the process to attaining self-control within oneself. We see this with each character as they mature and reflect on past experiences.
Without reservation, I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Brilliantly written.(After I finished reading this novel went to Amazon and purchased the whole series; Kindle with narration option.)

    "This series never disappoints....."
What aspect of Elizabeth Hart’s performance might you have changed?

I don't wish to criticise the narrator of the book but just wish Audible had chosen a male narrator who I believe could have brought more realism to the predominantly male characters in the book. I had read the book prior to listening, love this series, but struggled to identify the characters from the female narration.
