Publisher's summary

Stephan has lived the lifestyle of a Dominant for five years. After several rebellious teenage years, it gave him the stability and control he had been seeking after his parent's death. As president of a not-for-profit foundation, he knows what his future holds and what he wants out of life. All that changes when a simple lunch with his college friend and mentor, Daren, leads him to buying a slave.

Thrust into a situation he never thought he'd be in, Stephan can't walk away. He is compelled to help this girl in the only way he knows how. Brianna knows only one thing: she is a slave. She has nothing. She is nothing. Can Stephan help Brianna realize that she is much more than just a Slave?

Very Dissapointed

I'm mildly irritated. This book is uneventful and unfulfilling. The writing is mediocre at best, and reads like someone's attempt at writing in a personal journal or a clinical recitation of events that occurred, lacking any type of emotion or inflection. . This book also lacks any real climax or conclusion. Nothing really actually happens or gets accomplished, and the book ends up just stopping. I don't mean it leaves off with a cliff-hanger. That would mean something actually happens. No, it just stops. I don'y know why this book is in the erotica because there is not a sex scene to be found in the whole book. Complete waste of money. I certainly won't bother the sequel.

Stephan and Anna - a story worth listening to.

As with most of the female population I have read FSOG, but I still downloaded this book with some trepidation. I had read the book reviews on Sherri Hayes website and knew that the book didn't contain any graphic BDSM scenes but I wasn't sure that this topic/genre (sex slaves) was one that I really wanted to know about.

Anyway five minutes into the story I found that I was hooked, I really needed to know why this had happened to Brianna (Anna) and how she came to be in a situation that obviously was not of her choosing. As the story progressed I felt so sad for her, she was lost and broken. Her ten months as a sex slave had reduced her to a shell - fragile, empty and with nothing to call her own.

But having said that, as I became more involved in the story I came to a conclusion that surprised even me. I understood why the person best suited to care for her was a Dominant - and this is where we meet the lovely Stephan. I can't say that I have any greater understanding about what attracts people to this lifestyle but that isn't what this book is about. This book is about Stephan and Anna, caring and trust.

I won't go into the story because that is there for you to read but I will say it was worth the listen and because the ending is left hanging I will download the sequel. The narration was fantastic - using both male and female narrators gave the reading more depth and the listener a greater understanding of the emotions building at that time.

Redemption

If you could sum up Slave in three words, what would they be?

Warm, Tender and Trust

What was one of the most memorable moments of Slave?

The Zoo

What does Benjamin Ellis and Susanna Burney bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The emotions, the confusion. the longing

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

This should not be made into a movie; it would be too hard to portray Brianna’s imprisonment and abuse on screen and the parts of the story would be lost and most of the story is told from her perception and her confused thoughts.

Any additional comments?

Read it and part 2 is out in print already. I can't for the final book.

Gold stars for narrators!

I don't know what this book is and I don't think that the book knows either. It's not romance nor is it erotica. Mostly it's seemingly endless, excrutiatingly dull minutiae. I'm not kidding.

Narrators Benjamin Ellis and Susanna Burney heroically did the best that could be done with it. BRAVO! Give them something good to work with.

Print version of 2nd in series is out already...

I really did enjoy the story, but it is shorter than I like them. I would say to anyone thinking about buying this audio book to wait and see if the second one is released in audio form as well, because the first story ends rather abruptly.

I was very surprised after hearing the male narrator's voice, because he sounded older than what I would have expected. I think both narrators were able to convey the emotions of the characters pretty well.

I wish it was better

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really I thought it was better after reading FSOG or Bare to you

What could Sherri Hayes have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

It could have been longer

What three words best describe Benjamin Ellis and Susanna Burney ’s performance?

They were good

Was Slave worth the listening time?

I understood the concept I just wish it could have had at least one sex scene

Wish I read instead of listened

Really like the story, but the female narration ercked me a bit. The way she read the words made the female lead sound unintelligent, when in fact all signs lead her to be very intelligent. I won’t listen to this book again but I will read it to give Brianna her appropriate voice.

Robotic at times

At times the voices were robotic. But overall, it was still good. I enjoyed the story
