Publisher's summary

It's been months since Brian Sinclair, lead guitarist for the famous rock band Sinners, composed anything. Unable to write the music that once flowed so naturally, Brian is lost without his musical mojo. But when sexy psychology professor Myrna Evans comes on tour to study groupie mentality, Brian may have found the spark he needs to reignite his musical genius. When lust turns to love, will Brian be able to convince Myrna that what they have is more than just a fling, and that now that he's found his heart's muse, he doesn't want to live without her?

Brian and Myrna

Overall, I liked the book. However the ending did feel rushed and I really like epilogues.

Steamy Sex - Sweet Romance

Other reviews will use words like hot, or sizzling, or steamy, and all those words are true. What they may not mention is this book also has real heart. It's laugh out loud funny in places, and heartbreaking, and heart-warming.

Backstage Pass is most of all, a love story. Romance with a capital "R". Two very real, wonderfully three dimensional people with histories, and baggage, and hang-ups, who come together for a night of hot sex and find themselves in love. And one of them is going to resist that feeling with everything they've got. Their journey, played out against the background of a rock tour and all the accompanying insanity of that, makes me glad I got to go along for the ride.

Ms. Cunning does an outstanding job of weaving in the music, and making the concert scene--in all its grungy reality--come alive for the reader. It's a fresh, original concept, handled beautifully by someone who knows how to write extraordinarily well, and whose love of the music comes through in every scene.

She's also introduced larger than life characters who are secondary in this first book of the Sinners on Tour series, but who will each have their turn to take centre stage in the subsequent books. I can hardly wait. Imagine me, standing here in the dark, my lighter raised high, screaming for an encore!

Justine O. Keef did a great job in the delivery of the story. This really one of my favourite audio books I will listen again. Please, please Audible more of the Sinners on tour.

Totally Fabulous!!

Great story!! (Caution contains explict sexual content.) In my opinion it was totally awesome. I wanted to listen to it in one session. I was so wrapped up in the story and that does not happen often. It's well worth the credit. I hope the next book in this series is as good because I'm getting that one too.

Makes FSOG look like child's play

If you could sum up Backstage Pass in three words, what would they be?

hot, sweaty, sex

Would you recommend Backstage Pass to your friends? Why or why not?

Oh yea - serioulsy, If you are ok with explicit, exhibitionist sex scenes then here you have it my friends. Seriously, this book made FSOG look like a teaser. The story is interesting enough and the hook up scenes are really all that!

Which character – as performed by Justine O. Keef – was your favorite?

I really liked Brian - the lovelorn lead guitarist who always falls in love with the wrong kind of girl. He was sweet and let Myrna have her way and gave her the freedom both sexually and emotionally to do whatever, and I mean, whatever she wanted.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I needed to breath between chapters. ha!

Any additional comments?

Totally worth the credit! It's a hot read.

Sexy rockstars with a sensitive side?

Where does Backstage Pass rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's in the upper ranks of all the audiobooks I've listened to for sure.

What other book might you compare Backstage Pass to and why?

This book is unlike any other that I've listened to so far--primarily because the whole 'rocker thing' isn't really my taste-- I'm usually drawn to either paranormal romance, mystery or contemporary romance. If I had to compare I'd say it's similar to any contemporary romance novel really. The storyline is about coming to terms with your feelings, letting go and living life to the fullest--with a side of really great sex!

Have you listened to any of Justine O. Keef’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I've not listened to any of Justine O Keef's other performances, but I will listen to her again. The pacing in her narration was a bit slow at times for me and I wasn't sure if it was intentional--if it was, I was not sure why.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes--not because I was on the edge of my seat, but, because it was really a cute story with some humorous moments as well.

Any additional comments?

I've downloaded the next book already--interested to see how things unfold for the band.

Very Hot

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but with some caveats. It is definitely not a mainstream romance and there are some things I would give warning of to friends who may be expecting something more vanilla. There is a very casual exhibitionism theme going on throughout the book and if you have a problem with sex that includes other than the main couple then this book is not for you.

What other book might you compare Backstage Pass to and why?

Maybe the Sawyer Bennett "Wild" series. Similar themes of being very much a love story but also including sexual exploration outside of the main relationship.

What aspect of Justine O. Keef’s performance would you have changed?

I had a very hard time with how she made most of them women outside of the main character sound like demented Valley Girls. It somewhat took me out of the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nothing particular. It wasn't really a heavy hitter emotionally. A lot of the angst seemed somewhat forced and unnatural. Myrna is supposed to be a really smart woman but she's very stupid when it comes to romantic interaction. A lot of the misundertstandings are completely ludicrous. For instance (BIT OF A SPOILER AHEAD)

If your girlfriend calls you freaked out because she's been contacted by her psycho ex and she's worried he's going to show up and then you show up at her apartment and there's a guy there and she seems panicked what kind of person is going to automatically jump to the conclusion that she's cheating? It's ridiculous and makes no sense. And then the cops just let her ex walk out the door because he says he's not who their looking for? AND the cops comes off like star struck groupies? It asks for a bit to much suspension of disbelief to me.

Any additional comments?

It may seem like there's a lot of negative in my review but it's mostly minor nitpicking stuff. The story overall is good and kept me engaged. The sex is hot and well written. The secondary characters are fun as hell.

The ending was such a disappointment

This plot kinda has a Sadie Hawkins, kind of feel. In this book, the emotionally damaged part of the couple, is the Heroine. It is the Heroine who keeps hurting the Hero by keeping her emotional distance. She does eventually come around, and the book ends in the next sentence? Wtf? I waited the whole book for this couple to sort their issues and as soon as they do, the book ends and the readers/listeners don’t get to experience a single event where they are emotionally on the same page. Whatever!
The book does contain a lot of sex and the sex is adventurous; including threesomes. Therefore, if you are intolerable of such things, then choose another book.

Titillatingly hot and narration was excellent

I finally had the chance to listen to this book and wow! It was amazingly hot and has everything….an older woman with 5 hot young guys - The Sinners and the sex is out of this world…made you want to make a smoke after listening to it. Justine was superb in the narration - her ability to switch between male and female characters
