Publisher's summary

You think you're a smart person, but you don't feel fully satisfied with your life, your work, and your social relationships? Well, having a high IQ is no guarantee of success and happiness in life.

The real formula for success is IQ + EQ.

But what actually is EQ and emotional intelligence?

To answer this question, Alexander W. Allen, starting from his knowledge in the field of neuroscience and psychology, leads us toward the discovery of emotions and teaches us how to recognize and control them in order to improve every aspect of our lives.

The first part of the book focuses on theory and an overview of the key concepts necessary to fully understand emotional intelligence and its components.

The second part of the book moves from theory to practice and includes a series of advice and strategies on how to develop emotional intelligence and emotional quotient (EQ), both in the workplace and in everyday life.

In this audiobook, you will learn:

  • What emotions are and why they are so important
  • Why is it not enough to have a high IQ to be successful and happy
  • What is the importance of empathy
  • How emotions affect your relationships
  • How to improve your social skills
  • How to develop emotional intelligence through various exercises and strategies
  • And much more...

The truth is the world is not waiting for you, and things are changing at a very high pace. It is, therefore, very important to take advantage of every opportunity you have to become a better person, enjoy life more, and be more competitive at work. It could be a starting point, or simply, your chance to become the person you want to be and live the life you wish for!

Very intriguing book it enhances the importance of emotional learning in our society. At university we acquire the skills to get a job but we need emotional intelligence to progress in it.

Listen with intervals to get the best out of it

Listen through few chapters i really like it how to emotionally balance yourself at workplace. Sometimes it gets boring but we need to switch back and forth to get complete gist of it.

Great ideas, a bit difficult to get through.

Great ideas, a bit difficult to get through. What you get out of this depends the angle of which you approach it. I was looking more so for a business application, however there was a huge tangent towards children’s emotional education. Although it’s great content, it was what I was looking for.

Good book. Well audio.

Was useful for reference in research paper, however I believe there are better references to be found. Do more research on the subject.

Value in Emotional Intelligence

Excellent book. I listen it for my seminary class. I was not enjoying the early chapters on anatomy of brain; that's just not my wheelhouse. But the sociological and psychological stuff was profound.

Emotional intelligence

The book was very technical at points. It was also very interesting listen and I am glad I know more about emotional intelligence.

Good book , worth listening

This book was well worth the money. A fantastic explanation of the biological workings of the brain, and its relationship to outward emotional expression and interpersonal relationships.

Emotional Intelligence philosophy

I had not heard of emotional intelligence until recently. So I have learned a lot so far--though I have not finished the book yet. I hope to learn what my own EQ is--and if it is possible to improve it. I know it needs improving.

Good book for anybody

I love this book! The information is useful and applicable. This book brings clarity to an often misunderstood aspect of the human brain and the human condition. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has helped me to overcome the primitive aspects of my emotional response.
