Publisher's summary

"She went home with someone else that night?" Hearing the disbelief from my best friend's mouth makes the events of my failed date sting that much more. I would like to make it known, I have a lot more swagger than what it seems. I don't normally ask a girl out, have her fail to recognize it's a date, and then give me a high five - as if I'm her wingman - and take off with someone else. No. Normally I'm the one taking the girl home, but with Stella, it's been one failed attempt after another and frankly, I'm done trying.

But thanks to my best friend getting married in Hawaii right before the school year starts, I'm stuck on a tropical island, watching Stella parade around in what she claims is a bathing suit. Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it - just the tip of the iceberg. Because what I think is going to be a relaxing vacation, avoiding the one girl I can't seem to make it work with, has turned into a spectacle of being recruited as Stella's doting fake fiancé so she can save face with an old "friend" from high school. Now, I'm navigating through purgatory while trying not to get turned on by the way she holds my hand or kisses my jaw. It's all fake, that's what I keep telling myself - even though it feels entirely too real.

Narration was on point. The characters came alive for me and I love them together! The story was captivating and had me laughing my butt at on more than one occasion! I’m hoping the series is continued with Coras story.. fingers crossed

More Antics at Forest Heights High

One word - eels!
Make that two - glue (ha ha)
Oh what the heck, who am I kidding. So many words. It’s Meghan Quinn for crying out loud. Funny is her middle name. Where does she come up with these hilarious storylines, she is the absolute queen of rom com.
That said, there are some really emotional moments in this story too, Brock ‘Romeo’ Romero and Stella Garcia really need to learn how to communicate, so many misunderstandings, and for two people with so much in common, and so much attraction and chemistry, you would think navigating a friendship/relationship would come more naturally. Those pesky insecurities getting in the way of true love. This friends to lovers, fake engagement rom com takes us back to Forest Heights High School where this wonderful group of friends taking a trip to Hawaii to celebrate Arlo and Greer’s nuptials. This story is an interconnecting standalone so you’ll quite possibly come across some of your other favourite characters in and amongst. Another wonderful read. I completely adored Stella, she was narrated perfectly by Erin Mallon. As much as I love Sebastian York, who did in fact do a standup job, I’m not 100% sure he was the best choice for Romeo.

Stella is so whiny

I loved turners and Grier’s story. It was funny and awesome and a great story. But Stella is just such a whiny baby the whole book. First she uses everyone because she wants to be be better than everyone. And then when she realizes she uses everyone she continues to use Romeo but never commits and sabotages their relationship on purpose every chance she gets. I was excited for Stella story but she truely is a whiny baby in an adult body. I barely made it through. I hope Pikes and Cora story is better. I bet even Kiekos story would be better.

Really enjoyed this one!

This was a different sort of romance and I laughed out loud so many times! Narration performance really made this book worth while! The two week, destination wedding turned fake relationship was fantastic. I needed the distraction and the laughs.

12 hours of laughs and love

This is my first book from this series but I will be going to get the others on pay day.
Standalone with no cliffhangers.
I laughed so much, the friendships and banter was perfect.
Romeo is half in love with Stella before he even asks her out, when the date is over before it starts the fight begins, but then he's her fiance?
Stella is very attracted to Romeo, but he's a player and she wants more, plus he's way above her league. Right?
She just needs him to pretend to be together for 2 weeks while in Hawaii, what could go wrong?
Such a fun romance, your going to love it.
Sebastian and Erin did a great job as they always do.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Good, but not my fave MQ book

I LOVE Meghan Quinn’s books, and while I enjoyed this one it wasn’t my favorite.
I really liked the recurring characters and the guest appearances from some of the Brentwood boys! The MQ universe is one of the best parts of her books.

I think I may be one of the few people who doesn’t love Erin Mallons narration… so that kind of made this book less enjoyable. It’s not bad per se, I just don’t like the fast pace and weird upswing.

It had the classic MQ spice level, which I enjoyed. I have a hard time with a “ 🌶️ scale” because I don’t think I’ve read enough romance with spice to give a good number…. But for comparison it’s more descriptive than the few Lauren Blakey books I’ve read (imo).
I did like that this love story was based on a friendship. Excited to listen to the next one in the series! :)

Long build up but worth it

The reviews on this was spot on. It did drag on more than I thought it should and there were times where you scream in your head “just talk it out!” But at the same time it was really enjoyable and the build up made sense to how they were as people and the internal issues they were dealing with. Where some books that drag on become annoying, this one didn’t get to that point. Also, liked that it addressed her immaturity. I got annoyed with her in the beginning but glad I stuck it out and saw her grow. Narration was good but not great. Not a huge Sebastian fan. He’s just okay for me.

What a great RomCom!

I truly love the heat and humor Meghan Quinn can bring to a book. The narrators do a wonderful job hitting the mark at each spicy and humorous moment. I love Sebastian York’s voice with the grit and growl. He has a natural sound that adds to Romeo’s character. Also, I loved Erin Mallon and her co-reading with Sebastian. It is a perfect fit. Loved this! TW/18+

Rom-Com done soooo good!

The laughs are all there, just like in See Me After Class (read it first, it will make the reading experience here that much richer when you connect the dots). Stella and Romeo appear in that book and you will have such a deeper appreciation of where they start in this story if you read that one first. Plus, Greer & Arlo's wedding is the setting for most of this story, so go and find out how they got to this point.

There is epic pranking that hits in just the right way ("man issue" makes me snort giggle and I hope it keeps coming back), amazing drunken conversations with a kick-ass girl gang (I'm just going to say "Fireball") and situations where you just have to ask yourself "how did they get here?" (hotel balcony sex anyone?).

There is also so much heart you want to scream at the characters when they are being dense, cry with them in the lows and then cheer them on when they have the lightbulb moment before going out to make the grand gesture. And I have to say, as gestures go, this one hit me in all the feels.

Sometimes I want to cuddle the characters in blankets and hide them from Meghan so she won't be bale to torture them any more, but then they wouldn't get the beautiful rainbow of a happy ending on the other end. So I will say, torture away my friend. Rip my heart out with theirs and then sew us back together better than we were before.

We also get some seeds planted for the next book in the series. I can't wait to go to school again when the next one drops. This series is ripe for re-reads because it's just that damn good.

The Audiobook was performed superbly by the epically talented Erin Mallon & Sebastian York. Erin Mallon's drunken girl talk is so well performed. She takes all the emotional levels and makes me feel them. SebYo is great as Romeo, from the not-so contained humour of his buddies when he's freaking out over his "man issue" to the gut wrenching broken hearted drunken Brock. His voice just slides down my spine and sweeps me away.

One of the Best by Meghan Quinn!

Earn Your Extra Credit follows Brock “Romeo” Romero, a former professional baseball player who is now a PE teacher and Stella Garcia, the feisty Foreign Languages teacher and assistant volleyball coach. Their chemistry was established in See Me After Class. They have a falling out and really haven’t talked to each other for a while, until they travel to Hawaii for Arlo and Greer’s wedding. In a series of unfortunate circumstances, Stella asks Romeo to be her fake fiancé and the close proximity forces each of them to acknowledge and work through the feelings that they have had for each other.

As an avid follower of Meghan Quinn’s Baseball Series, this book was a long time waiting for me. I always thought that Romeo would have a very interesting story and I wasn’t disappointed. Brock Romero has definitely lived up to his nickname. He wears his feelings on his sleeve and several times I yelled to myself “TELL HER!”. Stella, I loved her in See Me After Class. I love her sass, and while I completely empathize with her situation, she took a little time to grown on me with EYEC. Don’t get me wrong, she totally redeems herself in my eyes. There are just a lot to process and both of their stubbornness was infuriating at times.

The I enjoyed listening to the audio version, narrated by Sebastian York and Erin Mallon.
This is a solid 4.5 stars for me. This book was full of witty banter, laugh-out-loud situations and some pretty steamy scenes involving a balcony, and a phone. It was also great that there were a lot of characters in past books in here.
