Christmas has never been more wicked....

The Earl of Edgemore, Blake Fox, does as he pleases and he would not dream of apologizing for it. His only weak spot is his sister, Lady Minerva. Little does he know the minx has matchmaking on her mind and Christmas provides the perfect opportunity.

Does Blake stand a chance against his meddlesome sister, mistletoe, and Christmas magic?

Making assumptions, finding love

I enjoy the Wicked Earls series, but this one isn't my favorite. The male lead, Blake is arrogant and selfish, and that grated on me, especially when he accuses Carsten of seducing him after he ruined her. The first words out of his mouth after he finds out she had been a virgin are "I won't marry you". Then he accuses her of intentionally trying to trap him. Carsten takes the high road and determines to marry another gentleman, and accepts the suit of a man who wants her for his wife. Blake carries on, denying he loves her, etc, etc, then finally sees the light and accepts his feelings. Is he too late? Well. this is Regency romance, so you know the answer. IMO, Carsten should have told Blake to 'pound sand.' He doesn't do nearly enough (any?) groveling, and I think Carsten would have been better off with the alternate suitor. They both lived HEA, but I thought Carsten deserved better. Just my opinion, YMMV.

The narration was great, and I loved the Scottish accent.

entertaining

The Earl of Edgemore helped a lady but accidentally mistaken her for one of the servants. This set off the story between the 2. The Earl initially wasn't planning to marry but he was captivated by this beauty from the Highlands.

The narrator did a great job with the accent and the words can easily be understood. The interaction between the two and the progression of their love story were cute and diverting.

This is my second book of the Wicked Earl's Club and this was definitely entertaining (NOTE: However, there were steamy scenes from the story and thus for mature readers only).

Blake and Carstine

Blake is a rake, who does not intend to wed. Carstine is a Scottish girl, with an English mother, who wants her to have a season. (Momma hopes she will fall for an English man.) A matchmaking sister encourages their romance. Add in another suiter to turn up the heat, who likes competition for love? In the end, the chemistry is too much and they have a HEA. It is a sweet story, funny at times, and an enjoyable read. (Or I should say an enjoyable listen to with the audiobook.) The narration was well done. Scottish lass

The heroine is a Scottish lass sent to visit her mother’s best friend. The hero is that friend’s son with a manipulative sister. It takes a while for the hero to realize that he loves her, but just in time to stop her from marrying someone else. The narrative was very entertaining.

Hero All Kinds of Wrong!

Like all female lovers of romance, I want to fall in love with the hero alongside the heroine. I want him to be a man worthy of her, equal in kindness and compassion. Unfortunately, in this book, I thought the hero was pretty horrible. He's certainly a snob, but that can be forgiven most times in historical romance because no males are alpha males quite like historical heroes! However, the alpha historical male should be a cinnamon-roll hero with a soft spot for the heroine beneath his crusty exterior, and he must treat her with kindness and respect, no matter how else he might be with others. This hero wounded my romantic heart, along with the heroine’s, because of how he treated her after they became intimate. He's barely got his fall refastened after taking her virtue before he insulting and dismissive of her. He seems to blame her for their dalliance, though it takes two tango in my book (or should that be minuet, for a historical romance??), and historical heroes have to take the greater share of whatever blame if blame must be assigned because historical heroines are supposed to be innocent not only of body but naïve of mind about intimate affairs as well. This hero rubbed me all manner of wrong! Frankly, I did not want the heroine to forgive his transgressions … never a good sign in a romance! While I typically enjoy the stories this author writes—even her relatively short ones meant to be more of a romp or a lark than a serious, heartfelt romance—this one just did not do it for me because of the horrible hero.

Two Stubborn make one happy couple

Amanda has done it again. This story was engaging from start to finish. I loved that two stubborn individuals needed a bit of a push to have their HEA. Anne Marie did a great job with the Scottish accent as well as the stoic Earl’s voice. I could feel the characters. I highly recommend this book.

The rouge and the girl

EARL OF EDGEMORE
by Amanda Mariel

This is a short quick listen. The Earl is a rouge out to bed whomever he pleases, without commitment. Carstine Greer comes across his path and the adventure begins. This isn't a romance but could it be if it had more development? The listener will have to make their own choice. It was an OK way to pass a couple hours.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Anne Marie Damman.
