Publisher's summary

From the bestselling author of Checking Out and Dry Hard comes a hilarious story about losing the love of your life, and finding yourself in the aftermath.

When Ollie Sweet is very publicly dumped by ‘The One’, his seemingly perfect world dissolves into misery, self-pity, and a bizarre rooftop meeting with a suicidal man in flip-flops. While most would seek out the support of loved ones at such a torrid time, natural-born journalist Ollie asks the subscribers of his website: how did they get over their failed relationships?

When Ollie follows some of their more extreme advice, chaos inevitably ensues, including accidentally exposing himself to some unsuspecting wildlife, jumping out of a perfectly serviceable aeroplane, and suffering from an extremely painful bottom, courtesy of a maniacal Scotsman.

Of course, all of this goes down a storm with his online following, and Ollie soon finds himself the centre of everyone’s attention - whether he likes it or not!

With his eclectic collection of supporters to guide him, can Ollie mend his broken heart, heal his broken bottom, and learn to find happiness again?

Good enough, Actually

This is light-hearted rom-com. It's not my favorite of Nick Spalding, but if I needed something to put me in a funny, easy mood, this works.
Love, love, love Steve West narrating this novel by Spalding. "Bricking It" is still my fav- hysterically funny!!
I truly enjoyed the ending - it ends in a somewhat classic happy ending style but not. Gives me a chance to ponder if there might be a sequel down the road.

Entertaining, Fun and surprising

It is strange how much we miss when we are in the middle of it all. Spaulding’s hallmark for the ears might just be the unusual tool that may help you see differently.

Comedic genius

This is like the male version of Bridget Jones’ Diary. Ollie is a mess. He’s just been dumped and takes his experiences into the world by writing about it. And those experiences, from the dumping to the experiences he goes through to get ever the dumping (I couldn’t stop laughing at the salon scene) this book made me double over laughing way too many times. I’m sure the book was awesome and I bought it. But the comedic genius of Steve West, who is one of my favorite narrators especially under his pseudonym, is astonishing. His timing, his control of his voice to play multiple characters and different sounds that bring the listener into the story (think Oompa Loompa and the Mario theme song, as well as screeches of horror) and this story was truly one of the funniest stories I have listened to this year.

Fun, lighthearted and entertaining

I really enjoyed Oliver's story, written by Nick Spalding and narrated by Steve West.

Nick Spalding has written a very entertaining, humorous story around Oliver Sweet. Oliver is just looking for "perfect" love, and trying to find himself and figure himself out in the aftermath of a thoroughly embarrassing breakup. His journey is hilariously narrated by Steve West, who gives such a great performance that you really feel Oliver's embarrassment and confusion.

Fun, funny, fully of heart, and narrated perfectly for the story. Nick Spalding is a wickedly humorous author, and Steve West is an engaging narrator.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

I wasn't sure what to expect since this is a new author for me, but I really liked this listen. Ollie Sweet is such a great character, and I loved how he grew as he learned more about himself and gained maturity. Narration is excellent. I'll definitely look for more from this author.

Definite laughs!

This wasn't non-stop laughter but there was some definite laugh out loud moments and a few smirks!

Whether the dumper or the dumpee, we can identify with the main character, Ollie/Oliver. He has a bit of a fantastical view of life and relationships so this book is sorta his journey of self-discovery. It was really well-written and well-narrated. Nick Spalding just has a way of creating real characters and finding the humor in the ordinary. The narrator was the perfect complement to that effort. Just an all-around great listen!

Light and Enjoyable

This was a fun, quirky novel with a pretty good narrator. If you're in the mood for lighthearted, this is a good choice.
