Muddled magic. Missing faeries. She's having one spell of a day at work...

Saffron Sawyer aspires to rise from the magical world's bottom rung. But when her wish to join the renowned Office of Faery Godmothers is granted, bullies make her first day on the job unbearable. And to add to her misery, she discovers that someone is abducting her coworkers one-by-one.

Desperate to prevent another kidnapping, she scrambles to piece together the clues. After teaming up with the handsome and powerful Devil's Advocate, she uncovers a strange connection between the disappearances and her lowly former gig. So much fun!

This story is great urban fantasy. I took a chance on it thinking it might be sappy and if so I would move on. Instead I enjoyed the world of fairies. Saffron is a fun main character with lots of grit. I highly recommend escaping into this story.

Pleasantly surprised!

I wasn’t sure what to expect but when I started listening to the narrator/performer I was drawn in by her fabulous accent! Then the whole concept was rather fun and I enjoyed the main character because she is very relatable! It’s a funny book on and off throughout, with a little possible romance and with a mystery to solve. I will be reading the rest of the series. It was entertaining and an escape!

Another good one from Helen Harper!

I've listen to this whole series now and it's another winner from Helen Harper. I really enjoyed this series. It has a lot of humor, suspense, and a nice romance between the main characters. The main character will make you laugh. I blew through all four of the books very quickly. Quite enjoyable!

That Was a Pleasant Surprise

I have listened to a lot of magic women on Audible's free books. This was easily among the best.

Better than expected

20 minutes in and I wanted to give up. But it got a little better and then a lot better. Glad I stuck with it.

Unique and interesting

The story started off with a good history and background. A believable fairy and heroine with flaws and optimism.

Amazing

I truly enjoyed this book. This book takes you into another world, away from reality.
I looked forward to reading more like this.

An intriguing start to a series

This is the first of Harpers books I’ve read. I enjoyed the premise and stubborn attitude of the main character. The idea that there are different kinds of fairies aside from just godmothers is genius. I can’t wait to dive into the next book!

Good story

I loved the narrator. The story was really good, if a bit slow at times. Overall, I thought it was easy to listen to, and interesting enough to keep my attention throughout.

Silly with Good Intentions

The story is missing some of the details usually available in Helen Harper stories. For example, how do the fairy departments make money. If the humans never remember their God mothers, then they aren't compensated by belief or coin. And what would happen if they stop doing their jobs? Is this their purpose or just something their species choose to do?

Also, how plausible is it that during an audit, an organization will not train an en employee, a high-prifile employee at that. Just send them out to deal with clients 😂 I felt this was so far beyond even fantasty that just came across as stupid. Fantasy doesn't have to be realistic, but not being realistic doesn't mean being dumb 😕.

Lastly, why is the Devils Advocate taken down so easily... and in the first book. I think this throws off his powerful facade.

I liked it but this doesn't feel as coherent as her other books.

Narrator, Ruth, was great!!!
