Publisher's summary

An all-new official, original novel from the twisted world of the hit horror video game, Bendy and the Ink Machine!

Seventeen-year-old Buddy Lewek has spent most of his life trying to escape the Lower East Side slums of New York City.Working as a delivery boy to support his family, Buddy wants to become an artist, a dream he’s sure will never be realized. But that all changes when a delivery job puts him face-to-face with Mister Joey Drew, the eccentric owner of an animation studio. Mister Drew takes Buddy under his wing as an apprentice, thrusting him into a world unlike anything Buddy has ever seen before. There’s the colorful cast of the studio, from the cranky, yet driven composer Sammy Lawrence to the cheerful voice actress Allison Pendle to Dot, the writing intern and Buddy’s counterpart. After his first glamorous studio party, Buddy starts to think that maybe it’s really as simple as Mister Drew says: Dreams do come true. But not everything at the studio is as picture-perfect as it seems...

Something is going bump in the night at Joey Drew Studios, something that leaves behind trails of thick, dark ink. While the studio frantically works toward their latest deadline, Buddy and Dot team up to find out just what is tormenting the studio after-hours, even if it means tracking the trail to Mister Drew himself.

Don't miss this official pulse-pounding story from award-winning author Adrienne Kress!

Surprisingly good!

I purchased this book so that I could listen to it with my children at night because they are fans of the Bendy creatures and I buy them the plushies. I thought that it would be
a book for children and though I feel that children of ten and up will love it I am pleasantly surprised to find that it's a great book for adults. My eight and nine year old lost interest quickly, the book has a mature tone and is too advanced for their interest. In the beginning I was not so invested but after a couple of chapters this story really captured me. Im a horror fan and this had some truly creepy scenes. I haven't checked to see if this is a series but if it is I will continue with it. I love the 1940's vibe to it ( I didn't really confirm if it was supposed to be in that era) the narrator did an awesome job of portraying that without over dramatizing. I like that the author was able to point out some ignorant mindsets if that time without preaching or pulling away from the storyline. I also love that the author didn't make his main character unrealistically perfect. This book is a calm yet creepy read.

Basic Story

I found the main character uninteresting and submissive while Dot was a Marysue, who was perfect, which made cringe at her geass ability to control people. Overall the story had some nice lines but the weight of the story versus game story is negligible at worst and boring at best
