Publisher's summary

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman return to the unforgettable world of the New York Times bestselling Dragonlance series as a new heroine—desperate to restore her beloved father to life—sets off on a quest to change time.

“I love Dragonlance and I love Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Plain and simple. Their books are my favorite fantasy series of all time.”—Joe Manganiello

Destina Rosethorn—as her name implies—believes herself to be a favored child of destiny. But when her father dies in the War of the Lance, she watches her carefully constructed world come crashing down. She loses not only her beloved father but also the legacy he has left her: the family lands and castle. To save her father, she hatches a bold plan—to go back in time and prevent his death.

First, she has to secure the Device of Time Journeying, last known to be in the possession of the spirited kender Tasslehoff Burrfoot. But to change time, she’ll need another magical artifact—the most powerful and dangerous artifact ever created. Destina’s quest takes her from the dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin to the town of Solace and beyond, setting in motion a chain of disastrous events that threaten to divert the course of the River of Time, alter the past, and forever change the future.

Critic reviews

“I love Dragonlance and I love Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Plain and simple. Their books are my favorite fantasy series of all time. I love the stories and ideas, but most of all, I love the characters. Why do we all feel like we know them? They are what spurred me to start working for D&D and what inevitably inspired me to pursue a career in showrunning.”—Joe Manganiello

Terrible Narrator, ok story.

The narrator mispronounces nearly every name in the book, if that's possible. Why didn't they let her know the proper pronunciation?

Irritating main character.

The potential for a good story is here though.

absolutely fantastic

It is so great to have these authors and these fantastic stories back in circulation. I grew up on the story lines and to have them back in my life. after all. this time is like having an old friend come to visit. I know they can't stay forever, but it's good to have them back for a while. So sit in a comfortable place, grab a great drink and listen to another amazing story of Dragonlance

Good Book One

The end of book one is very jarring. Can’t wait for book two as soon as possible

Okay Listen

You need to be a fan of these characters to enjoy as the story isn’t really engaging. It does seem to be a way to re-capture nostalgia instead of the magic of the first books. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it as Im a fan but unless you are bringing these folks into the fold for real its just an okay romp maybe the next books in the story will be better.

Poor Narration

I love this series. Margaret and Tracy expertly tied in this story with the characters that I have loved from previous novels.

The narrator however mispronounces some of the common names to this franchise throughout the text and I had difficulty following the story as I was taking mental capacity to correct her pronunciation instead of being able to concentrate on the story.

Loved the story, hated the narrator. I wish I'd purchased the hard copy.
