Publisher's summary

An animal communicator, a dead body, and furry witnesses with a story to tell...

I’m Dr. Kallie Collins, a veterinarian who can communicate with animals. No, it’s not as crazy as it sounds. Yes, it has landed me smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation.

It all starts with a bone.

A dog digs up the bone. A detective wants the bone. The dog wants to keep the bone. That’s where I come in. Instead of tranquilizing the dog as the skeptical detective suggests, I use an animal-communication technique, and voila! Tail wagging, the dog drops the bone, then leads me to the location of a complete human skeleton. Sheesh!

Now, I’m up to my ears in four-legged witnesses and trying to figure out who the killer is before it’s too late and another person disappears.

I’m just hoping it won’t be me.

So close to what real life is.

I loved this story the author describes real people and how they may react to people and what is going on in their life. The animals and friends and family are like people I know and love.

Dogs Don't Lie is an entertaining cozy mystery with engaging characters and an interesting plot. The characters are engaging and the mystery is well written. The aspect of the lead character talking to animals is realistic and works in this setting. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to cozy mystery readers.

Puuuuurrrrrrrfect Cozy Mystery!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEDDDDDD this audiobook. It was so much fun and a quirky mystery. The characters are all so well written and the plot is just the perfect mix of mystery and fun. The purrrrrfect cozy mystery! As an animal lover, I know I'll be relistening to this one! The Narrator also did such a great job! She stayed engaged and really brought the characters to life. I'm for sure going to check out some of her other work and really hope to hear more from this author as well!

Dogs Don’t Lie

I liked book 1 in this new series. The MC, Kallie Collins is a veterinarian who has a talent of communicating with animals. A murder has occurred & Dr. Collins uses her skills with a mixed terrier & a cat to try & find out who is the murderer. The storyline moves at a nice pace & there are several interesting characters involved including a certain police detective who seems to take more than a professional interest in Kallie.

I'm Hooked and Want More

I loved everything about this book, the setting, the detective, Kallie, the animals, and the plot, not to mention the narration. I was completely hooked from beginning to end and want to read or more likely, listen to, more books in this series.

Kallie, a veterinarian, gets called to help law enforcement because they have a recalcitrant dog on the scene of a case. Kallie uses her animal communication ability to get the dog to not only give up the bone he's protecting, but show her where it came from. Unlike in some stories, Kallie's animal communication skills don't ever become annoying. She claims she learned them in a class and that anyone can do it if they know how. Skepticism of Kallie's abilities is predictable, but people come to believe her as she uses her ability to help law enforcement solve their crime. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Even better as audio!

veterinarian, law-enforcement, family-dynamics, friendship, murder-investigation, cozy-mystery, situational-humor, verbal-humor*****

Veterinarian Kallie's skills might be less obvious than Dr Doolittle, and she's lots younger than Dr Herriot, but she has even more in common with Kinsey Milhone! She claims that her ability to interact with animals is a thing that can be learned, but the sheriff's department and the paparazzi aren't so sure. The detective is new to the area and their first encounter is over a dog who doesn't want to give up the (human) bone but leads them into the cow pasture complete with cow pats. When Kellie isn't sleuthing, she's groaning over her mother's matchmaking schemes, so it's a good thing she's got a couple of good friends! Absolutely loved this book!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Robynn Sheahan of Independent Book Publishers Association via NetGalley. Thank you!
*****Guess I only THOUGHT I loved it because when I won an audio copy I found out how much BETTER it was when performed by Naomi Rose-Mock! She really brought more life and personality to each of the characters!

Good read

This is a great story with clever characters and a good mystery. Great read but my only complaint is the narrator said mista in place of mister. That seems like a silly complaint but the word is said so often in this book that it became grating lol still worth the read!

Pretty Immature

I really liked the premise but the execution not so much. The main character seemed super immature. The author attempted to make her nerdy but it was more cringe than anything.
I had to speed the narrator up a LOT to even make it through. This is just not for me. The main character seriously reads as if she's a 16 year old girl. I am all for nerdy characteristics as I'm nerdy myself but this missed the mark.
