Publisher's summary

A dark, twisted Cinderella retelling that fans of Sarah J. Maas and Melanie Dickerson are sure to enjoy.

Magic can have deadly consequences.

When the sudden and suspicious death of Eloise’s mother points to forbidden magic, Eloise is determined to bring her mother’s murderer to justice. She will stop at nothing to find the killer...even if the clues lead right to the palace gates and the prince’s manservant Kaven. He is irrational, volatile, and prone to knocking women off horses. Given his personality, it should be easy to find the proof she needs to place him in irons.

However, when dark magic is used, nothing is as it seems, and Eloise is about to learn that nightmares often hide behind fairy tale lives.

Fans of the Beastly Tales will not want to miss this new addition to the same world. Filled with magic, unexpected foes, and brooding, impossible men, this Tale of Cinder is sure to leave you burning for more!

Really interesting retelling

Really great take on the Cinderella theme and with some really fabulous world building. I enjoyed this book and found the narrators voice easy to listen to and the different voices well done.

Review for all 3 books

*Warning, some spoilers!*
I waited to write this review until finishing all 3 stories in the trilogy, I love the beastly tales, it is one of my go to's so I was excited to see M.J had a new series out. It did NOT disappoint! I love all the fairy tales that she incorporated while keeping to Eloise's story. Beauty and the beast, snow white, Cinderella and more all mixed in 1 series. It was darker than I expected based on all her other book's so I would not recommend to minors but personally it did not make me shy away. I am looking forward to Kellan's POV of her story after she leaves home. To me this series doesn't seemed finished because of the way it hinted she would return for a visit "after what happened to her" it left me intrigued. I also wished tge pig would have turned back into a man and played a more prominate part, maybe at court sentencing or when the guards came to the house for the shoe fitting scene, something.. he kind of got swept under the rug. Maybe he will be revealed in Kellans story.

Not Even Close to Beastly

This was so boring. It was no where near the Beastly tales. No romance at all and not enough storyline until the end. So disappointed.

Thus is the most boring book EVER!!!!

I mean this is supposed to be a dark exciting remake of Cinderella or something and it's really just a bunch of old times boring BS. I'm so disappointed!
