Publisher's summary

Discovering a severed foot sets Detective David Wolf on a deadly collision course.

When a drug runner on pre-trial release disappears before his court date, nobody in the Sluice-Byron County Sheriff's Department is surprised. What is shocking, though, is Detective David Wolf finding the mule’s foot, tracking ankle bracelet still attached. It looks like somebody has come to retrieve their man, and to make a statement in the process.

Why the bloody theatrics? Wolf wonders, realizing he may never know. Answers involving men like these are often hard to come by. But he soon realizes a psychologist in town, a friend he’s grown close with over the years, has also gone missing, and the two disappearances are linked. And with the news, the doctor's family is now desperate, and Wolf will need to find those answers fast.

With the aid of his FBI friend Special Agent Kristen Luke, Wolf embarks on his frantic search, and soon finds that in order to rescue his friend he’ll have to deal with a dangerous, deadly foe. One that has nothing left to lose, and no regard for the lives he takes.

In the brand new, action and suspense-filled 16th installment of the international best-selling David Wolf Series, can Wolf and Luke traverse the depths of evil and come out unscathed this time? Or will death finally catch up to them?

Good enough to finish

A little difficult to get started, but eventually drew me in. Characters are a little thinly drawn and formulaic.

This series is the absolute best!!!!!

This is one of my absolute favorite series! When I realized there was a new book out, I practically tripped trying to cash in my credit fast enough. This is book 16 and let me tell you…..this one and all the other 15 are so worth it! If you do the yearly subscription and have 12 credits, buy 4 extra credits and spend every dang one on getting all these books. I am hoping and praying that book 17 will be out soon! I don’t think I can ever get enough of David Wolf and the Sluice-Byron county crew. And please please please I hope they never change narrators because as far as I’m concerned- Sean Patrick Hopkins IS David wolf!

See Shelly’s Review

This was the daily deal, and Shelly‘s review was right at the top and SPOT ON, so I didn’t even bother reading the synopsis of the publisher. I just purchased it because she is one of the few reviewer‘s whose opinion has merit. Gads so many of these reviewer’s have no credibility or track record for their opinion. When you click on their name, you see they have written three or four reviews!! So why would l think their review has any merit?? Wayne is another reviewer l watch for as he knows good story telling .
I really like this narrator so l will be checking out his other reads as l buy by narrator.
Were my comments of help?

Great story even as a stand alone

I am late to the party as this is the first book in the series I have read. It works as a standalone even though there is clearly some history previous books surely tackled. Story and characters were solid and realistic. Actually cared wheat happened to the characters. Great narration. Well done!

Good Adventure

My first book in the series, but the author provided sufficient information that I wasn’t lost. The plot has mystery and action. I will look to listen to further books in the series.

Time well spent

Finally, after struggling through three books not worth my time and ready to give up on unknown authors, here comes a fast paced, well written book with excellent narration. Well done. I’m ready for more Wolf books.

Solid formula, even if a bit vanilla

I am new to this author and can say that jumping in this late in the series was not a problem. There are some backstories that I had to figure out (there’s a lady cop named Luke, for instance, with some past romance with Wolf). Also, since this is book 16, that might explain why I found Wolf to be rather vanilla; he’s your stock white dude with a gun and usual battle-baggage. Maybe if I’d listened to some of the previous books, he’d have more layers.

The installment itself was also pretty formula. Since it involves a drug cartel the bad guy is, of course, an accented psychopath: the only depth to him is his depth of depravity. And did I imagine it, or is Wolf’s current girlfriend a cop? If so, I was disappointed in her lack of cop skills in the face of danger. If not, I have to wonder if saving damsels is another formula of this series.

But, for the Daily Deal, this gave a pulpy good time, fit for a police procedural. There’s a little dry humor, a decent thrill, and not too graphic use of violence considering the cartel angle. I see that books 1-4 and 5-7 are offered in collections. Based upon this book, i think it may be worth it to take the series in order.

Best one in this series!!!!

David Wolf arrives at the crime scene to find one man deceased and a foot. The foot belongs to a man he had arrested for running drugs. He was released on bail. Now there’s only his severed foot with an ankle monitor still on it.
Wolf goes on the hunt for a ruthless man who is on a murderous spree. He’s working his way towards Wolf’s own home. He sees him as his nemesis and he’s out to obliterate him.
This is probably the most intense books in this series in a long time.
Sean Patrick Hopkins does an excellent job narrating.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It was on sale- and OK

So, I was probably not as vested as others since this is my first book. The story was OK, lots of time spent on the characters, while I would have preferred more plot, less relationship. My personal guidelines is story should be 10 hours long, so doubtful I will invest my credits in earlier books. For a 'beach read' it was worth the sale price.
