Have you struggled with a loss of appetite for several months now? Do you remember the last time you ate without thinking about a scale? When was the last time you looked in the mirror without grimacing? I can help you.

This book is dedicated to those suffering with an eating disorder called anorexia nervosa. I am writing based on my experience with the disease. The personal accounts within this book can aid in identifying and overcoming this disorder. This book can help you to see the beautiful girl in the mirror, regain your appetite, and begin talking about your feelings without fear of judgment.

Eating disorders can take their toll on you, your relationships, and your life. I have written this book as a guide for you to be able to find an outlet for your thoughts, coping mechanisms for your stress and a way forward in your daily interactions with family, friends, and peers.

RESOURCEFUL / EASY READ

I am thrilled with Cutting Yourself on the Inside, which I recently ordered.

It is written in a way that was also understandable to teenagers, which was another thing I appreciated. Any of my children who picked up a copy might quickly recognize the information as being relevant and helpful without feeling stigmatized by it. The Anxiety Squad was incredibly helpful in giving my teens a name for the feelings that were consuming them.

This is a fantastic resource to have on hand because the information and suggestions were so thoughtfully prepared and presented. Kids face a lot of challenges in life, and I think we can refer back to this book time and time again.

Heavy subject - great content

This subject is near and dear to my heart so I went into this audiobook pretty skeptical, but wow, it delivered.

The information provided was thoughtful, helpful and exactly the type of thing that we need with this subject matter. Absolutely recommend.

Highly recommend!

This is a tough subject to cover and has been done so passionately and considerately. While targeted at young teenage women it provides some very grounding strategies for anyone dealing with anorexia. I would highly recommend this to anyone who thinks they or their child may be suffering this way.

Impactful

A very impactful, helpful, and illuminating audiobook. I got this for my niece, who is, carefully speaking, suffering from an eating disorder, and my sister really needed a kind of support. I was not quite a fan but I decided to get her this book on her birthday.
It turned out to be an appropriate gift for her as it captures the depressing reality of anorexia treatment.

Very grateful for this book

As a mentor of several teenaged girls I am very grateful for this book. I feel a lot more confident looking out for signs that the teens in my care and organization are harming themselves. Adolescence is such a precarious time in one's life. Knowing how to respond to someone in need is a powerful skill. I will be consulting this audiobook in the future for sure.

Thoughtful, compassionate, useful

Bought this for a friend's daughter who has been struggling with issues of self image, particularly around her weight. According to my friend, she's really been listening a ton, and is just sounding more optimistic about her life, and self image. Thank you!

A great resource on a difficult topic

This could have been a triggering topic for people who currently struggle with anorexia, but I never got the impression that this was confrontational or insensitive. In fact, it's the most well-researched resource for anorexia I've encountered so far. There are lots of media and articles online about Anorexia, but this is by far the most comprehensive.
There was a specific chapter for social interactions, which is equally as important as a clinical treatment for the disorder. For example, there was one part about approaching church dinners appropriately.

The positives of extracurricular activities.

Chapter 5 really spoke to me. I naively believed the time consuming nature of extracurricular activities was enough to keep the focus off of the disease. The author discusses the positives but doesn’t neglect to address the unique pressures and triggers of athletic or academic activities. This information is invaluable and definitely raised my awareness.
