Publisher's summary

When sheltered artist Julia Castillo flees her hometown, she has just one goal: to prove to her overbearing family once and for all that she can make it on her own. After she moves to Sanctuary, West Virginia, her horse paintings take the art world by storm. Yet Julia finds her courage tested as never before - by her love for a handsome country lawyer, by her bond with a dangerous black stallion, and by the secret she is so desperate to keep…

Paul Taggart abandoned his high-powered legal career to return to Sanctuary, giving up his own dreams to care for his troubled brother. But the day he rescues Julia Castillo from the side of the highway, his staid, responsible life changes forever. Irresistibly drawn to the fiery but unsophisticated beauty, Paul will do anything to protect her - even sacrifice his own happiness to guarantee hers.

Dramatic and emotional, Country Roads is a heartwarming tale of two people trying to balance the bonds of family with a passionate love of their own.

I loved the storyline

I loved the character variation and substance. The artist portion is also interesting. The whisper horse angle is also intriguing and very possibly true.

Enjoyable Listen

I liked this story a bit more than the first story in the series. The h is dealing with perceptions of how life could affect her illness and keeps it to herself. If course, it blows up but all is well that ends well!

Whisper Horse

This is the second book by Nancy Herkness that I've read and can't wait to read more. I've found another fantastic author to follow.
This story is of an artist (which I relate to being an artist myself) who has been sheltered to some extent due to an illness of her youth. After her car breaks down on her way to a small town art gallery , she meets a man who not only captures her heart, but helps give her the courage to meet life head-on and face her fears.
She also comes face to face with a horse that haunts and inspires the artistry that she sets to canvas. This meeting invokes a kinship between the two that enriches both their lives as she whispers her hopes, dreams and fears to the angry steed.

This was not an ARC(Advanced Reader's Copy). I read this book thru Kindle Unlimited.
