Publisher's summary

Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

Loved it!

Wonderful narration! She doesn't overdue the males voices which can be distracting. I will look for more of her works. And of course I always love this story.

thank audible for pitiless counter programming

I'm assuming this made my recommendation carousel because of the recent terrible Netflix movie. well done, as I'd not heard this production which is excellent.
the book is often called Austen's best and for sheer insight might be one of the best courtship novels ever written. I'd forgotten how angry it is, and how impatient with the various hypocrises a society on the verge of the verge of thinking of women as people foists on her characters, male and female.

thanks Netflix for making such a shitty movie. please do Pnin next and even worse.

Delightful

Beautifully narrated. Jane Austen's eloquence is always a delight. Although a lovely story, just listening to the choice of words is already a pleasure.

Great story and reading

Loved the plot and excellent audio. Language is archaic, so it was fun to get into that and adjust as the story went on.

Absolutely love Persuasion! Best Austen story of them all

The voice acting was good to great. Sir Walter and the Admiral were a bit too much and a bit off if you’ve seen the many adaptations. They aren’t as gruff or old codgery as played here. Sir Walter is a snob who fancies himself a big deal and looks down on everyone else beneath him in society. The Admiral is more passionate, full of adventure and life.
