A MUST LISTEN!!

I guess at one time or another everyone has read "David Copperfield" but you must listen to this version.. I simply cannot say enough about the masterful performance of Martis Javis!! Each character is distinct and wonderfully portrayed and the words fall soothingly on your ears.. I could not have enjoyed it more if I had been watching it played out before me.. We all know the genius of Charles Dickens and because of the performance of Martin Javis, I will be listening to the other works of Dickens as narrated by Martin Javis.. Thank you Audible!!

Classic work - Classic performance

Martin Jarvis delivers a worthy performance to this wonderful masterpiece. While there are some predictable circumstances the narrative is eloquent, flows naturally and the characters are created with such truth and sincerity - despite the fact that some of them do feel a bit too perfect in their evil or good - but that’s why Dickens is classical and that’s why this is a classic masterpiece. Wonderful experience!

Perfect

This was one of the audio books that made me look forward to my commute just so that I could listen to another part of the story. Both the story and the narration are absolutely perfect.

Absorbing story expertly narrated

I was a real pleasure listening to this book. Martin Jarvis is a master. He is perhaps my favorite narrator of all. His voice is lovely, and he has created a dozen or so unique character voices that he somehow manages to keep straight throughout. Moreover, he moves effortlessly between character and narrator, giving us a seamless listen.

The story itself is so rich in description and detail that I am transported body and soul to Victorian England. The dialog is beautifully written and makes me yearn for the gentility of centuries past.

Highly recommended.

Great Voices!

Copperfield is, of course, widely regarded as Dickens' best story and this is a great version of it. This narrator has a remarkable range of accents and voices and he maintains them in amazing consistency. Even if the story was not very good the narration would carry it forward. Barvo!

I really enjoyed it!!

This is totally enjoyable even though I have read the book before, listening to the audio was great.
If audible books are like Daved Copperfield (Unabridged), then I will continue to purchase them.

Perfection

My favourite of all the Dickens books, and Martin Jarvis is indeed the master of narration. I was sorry when this audio book ended. The characters come alive under the skill of the writer and the skill of the narrator. Loved it so so much!
