Publisher's summary

When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a house in London, he soon discovers some strange and shocking things about his new client. And then some strange things start happening back in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby, a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.

First published in 1897, Dracula is an epistolary novel, meaning that the narrative is related through letters, diary entries and newspaper articles. The story is brought to life in this Audible production by a group of actors that you might recognise from TV and film: Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Patricia Allison (Sex Education), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Theo James (Divergent series) and Jason Watkins (The Crown).

Highly recommended

I read Dracula in High School, but that was over 40 years ago, and I had forgotten how very good this book is.
This audio performance was very enjoyable with several people reading parts. It was more like a radio show, without sound effects. I found it very entertaining.

Superb casting!

Such a classic, original story! I can hardly imagine a better cast of voices for the characters.

An amazing story.

Although the science is humorously and at times mortifyingly out of date one truth remained in my mind. All of this was cutting-edge. The medicine, psychology, physiognomy, zoology, philosophy, and really all of the -ologies that caused me to laugh sneer and groan were the painstaking research of the author communicating a single truth. No matter what we learn as a race we have much we cannot understand. Wether it is the dead that walk or a female protagonist that refuses to conform to the restrictive and pervasive ideas of the inferiority of women in all matters dominated by men. We live in the same world as Mr. Stoker. There is what we see and there is what simply is.

Very good

I think this version is about the only way I could have made it through this story. I've tried to read it many times. It's hard to follow in book form. However, this was great. 👌 10/10 recommend.

Fantastic.

This was beautifully performed. Having read the novel many years ago, this reacquaintance was a joyful one! So glad it’s in my audible library. Give this one a listen.

Far better than the movie

In fact, the movie is garbage compared to this book. I liked it, more poetic than action, but with great sentiment.
