Great story, bad volume variation

The volume oscillated between piercing (the scene change music) and inaudible (some dialogue). Nevertheless, it's a lovely story portrayed by really talented voice actors.

Enjoy Jane Austen

The story is enjoyable, but between scenes the music is so loud it is uncomfortable.

A surprising rendition!

My only wish was that the volume had been better regulated. I often had to adjust the volume so that I could hear "lowered" conversation, and then suddenly music or background noise would surge loudly. Occasionally the background effects made it difficult to hear conversation.
Overall, however this is a well done rendition. I was surprised that actual actors were reading their parts between Ms Pugh's narration. This has the effect of a radio play, with birds chirping, clocks ticking, fires crackling, and etc as background accompaniment. You will feel like you are really there with characters. One of the more enjoyable audio books I've experienced. Enjoy!

Lovely production version to an uninteresting tale

There are too many petty people for me to have dived in. The main character works but she surrounds herself with annoyances. I wouldn't recommend any other version though; this version is masterful. This production is a beautiful audio play and that makes it interesting. if it were any longer I'm not sure I'd make it through. I will go off to other works before spending any longer with this one.

Love the narration!

When I saw who the narrator was, it was barely a debate on adding this book to my collection. I found Jane Austin’s books hard to read before and I thought hearing it might make it easier. I was not disappointed! I was transported into the story and enjoyed nearly every minute of it. I now have another Jane Austen book in my library and I hope to find more narrations from Florence Pugh.

Excellent Adaptation

I have not read the complete novel but enjoyed this full cast adaptation. Unlike some other reviewers, I enjoyed the music at the beginning of each segment. I was listening with a speaker and not with earphones, so the increase in volume did not bother me. The narrators were all very good, but the low volume with some of the speakers made it difficult to understand what they were saying especially if I wasn't right next to the portable speaker. This audiobook made me interested in reading the novel. My favorite part was the beautiful letter that Captain Wentworth wrote to Ann. Whether you've read the novel or not, I think you would enjoy this adaptation.
