Editorial reviews
FonoLibro, the leading Spanish-language audiobook producer in the Americas, presents a dramatization of Miguel Cervantes’ masterpiece, The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha, with original music and sound effects, and featuring notable actors from Latin American radio and television. Cervantes’ romantic description of the travels and adventures of the addle-brained Alonso Quijano and his "squire" Sancho Panza is not just the most influential work of literature from the Spanish Golden Age and the entire Spanish literary canon, but continues generation after generation to be a joyful "chivalric" experience.

Publisher's summary
Critic reviews
"The well paused, highly dramatic narrations by Spain's Juan Manuel Montesinos, and by a diverse cast of qualified Latin American and Spanish readers, bring Sancho and Don Quixote's adventures to life, allowing listeners to follow the intricate and sometimes complex series of events and stories-within-stories of this amazing novel. Orlando Cuevas's rendering of Sancho stands out, as it evokes the humility, humor, and leisurely attitude of the character, just as Don Quixote's voice reflects the eloquence and lucidity amidst the folly that define this famous figure." Quixotic is a word that the dictionary defines as "extravagantly chivalrous or romantic; visionary...." and that is a fitting definition, indeed, for this charming retelling of Don Quixote, the 17t- century Spanish classic by Miguel de Cervantes, now updated for the modern listener. The gallant and fragile Quixote will touch listeners, as will his faithful squire Sancho Panza and the tragically beautiful heroine of the gentle Don’s chivalries, the fair Dulcinea.

Story

Story
The most influential work of the entire Spanish literary canon and a founding work of modern Western literature, Don Quixote is also one of the greatest works ever written. Hugely entertaining but also moving at times, this episodic novel is built on the fantasy life of one Alonso Quixano, who lives with his niece and housekeeper in La Mancha. Quixano, obsessed by tales of knight errantry, renames himself ‘Don Quixote’ and with his faithful servant Sancho Panza, goes on a series of quests.

Story
Don Quixote, the world's first novel and by far the best-known book in Spanish literature, was originally intended by Cervantes as a satire on traditional popular ballads, yet he also parodied the romances of chivalry. By happy coincidence he produced one of the most entertaining adventure stories of all time and, in Don Quixote and his faithful squire, Sancho Panza, two of the greatest characters in fiction.

Don Quixote, a man driven by chivalrous ideals and wild delusions, adopts sword and lance as a knight-errant to defend the weak, slay the ignoble, and win the heart of the farm girl he envisions as a princess. In his world of fantasy - where inns are castles, peasants are kings, and windmills are beasts - Quixote, his nag, and his sound but devoted squire, Sancho Panza, set forth on a picaresque adventure conceivable only to a man obsessed.

Locked up in jail, Miguel de Cervantes is attempting to start a novel when he is visited by a priest, who tells him about an old man driven insane by chivalric romances and a vision of glory. Inspired, Cervantes takes up his pen and begins to write. His story begins in La Mancha, where an elderly country gentleman decides to emulate his knightly heroes, Sir Lancelot and El Cid, and embark on a quest to prove his valour. Renaming himself Don Quixote, he puts on his rusty armour and rides out with his loyal squire Sancho Panza.
