Publisher's summary

Don Quixote, a man driven by chivalrous ideals and wild delusions, adopts sword and lance as a knight-errant to defend the weak, slay the ignoble, and win the heart of the farm girl he envisions as a princess. In his world of fantasy - where inns are castles, peasants are kings, and windmills are beasts - Quixote, his nag, and his sound but devoted squire, Sancho Panza, set forth on a picaresque adventure conceivable only to a man obsessed.

One part legendary quest, one part metareflection of that very legend, Don Quixote remains, after four centuries, one of the most radical, profound, playful, and heartbreaking epics ever dreamed.

Revised edition: Previously published as Don Quixote, this edition of Don Quixote (AmazonClassics Edition) includes editorial revisions.

A Long Tale Need be Heard

It’s a tome I thought, at times, would never end, though by the time it did it was so sad to say goodbye to my good and dear friends, the Knight Errant and his Sancho.
Surely Monty Python was inspired by the brilliant idiocy of this adventurous tale. I found myself speaking in a more colorful and droll way during the reading of Don Quixote. The language sounds completely modern, though it was written in the 17th century. It goes to show that people are people and haven’t changed much, except that we don’t speak nearly as nicely as they did back then.
For young and old, this book is a must!

A Classical Story Marvelously Performed

Audible makes this novel, with all its literary playfulness, possible to complete. Written more than four hundred years ago, the performances of various characters bring to light situations that still exist to this day. 🎭 📚🎭📚

Don Quixote Lives On

I don't remember Don Quixote being such a long book but the narration was wonderful and I enjoyed every minute.

Pleasantly surprised

The narrator should receive an award because he was brilliant. I didn’t expect the story to make me laugh out loud. I absolutely enjoyed this book.

Superb Performance of An Almost Flawless Book

This is a long book and many have already read it in print, but Mr. Page's performance add layers and dimensions of joy almost equivalent to those of the writer. The performance is another creation in its own right.

As for the book, it is way ahead of its time in terms of ideas and imagination, the author is very well read and spoken, and besides humor he offers a huge amount of wisdom. That is why it baffles me how he was very much ill informed of the Islamic faith he had spoken about several times, what with the close encounter he had with the Muslims previously ruling Spain and Portugal for around 800 years and making them the pinnacle of civilization and haven of coexistence of religions and cultures, unlike the brutal inquisition with its ingenious notorious torturing devices and the intolerance not only to other religions (Islam or Judaism) but even to those who converted to them for fear of persecution. This is a dark portion of history that no sane person would side with, let alone a cultured one as Miguel de Cervantes. This might hint to a very powerful delusion by the Christian narrative at the time and the prejudice against the Muslim tenure that clouded the author's judgment just like the pulp fiction of the knights did with his Don Quixote.

The Man of La Mancha

"Don Quixote" is one of the greatest novels ever written. It is witty and entertaining, and even contains some bits of profound wisdom. It reminds us the danger of forcing the world to conform to our preconceived notion, without regard to objective reality. It treats with ideas of chivalry, fantasy, insanity, adventure, folly, and farce. Everyone should read "Don Quixote," and this is made all the more possible as it is one of the most widely translated books in print. This audiobook is well-produced, and I have found that reading the text alongside and audiobook enhances the experience.

New to me but a true favorite of mine now

The story takes you on a journey of self reflection. We should all aim to become knights and squire's!!!
