Publisher's summary

From Amazon best-selling author S.M. Stryker comes an emotionally riveting romantic suspense about first loves, best friends, and second chances.

Have you ever found the love of your life, then lost them over a misunderstanding? Have you ever had a dream just at the tips of your fingertip and watched as it slipped between them, lost forever? Have you ever had a dream ripped out of your hands, only to be given another dream - a dream you were never expecting? You never think you’ll love again, but life thinks differently. Then, life throws you two more curveballs.

All Charlie ever wanted to do was play softball in college. She’d worked her whole young life for it and finally made it. The only problem? It’s on the other side of the country. To keep her dream alive, she does the only thing she can. She moves. But, when Charlie refuses to party and drink with her teammates, she’s accused of not being a team player. There’s no way she’d jeopardize her scholarship. Charlie will walk away from anyone who can ruin her dream.

Carson is on his own. Born into wealth, his parents have other priorities that don’t include him. Carson is smart, and after graduating at sixteen, he decides to travel the United States. He’s never believed in relationships; who needs the drama? That is until he runs into Charlie. She’s different. She’s special. And he knows it from the start.

As their friendship intensifies, they become inseparable, spending all their free time together. That is, until a misunderstanding. The one thing that throws a curve ball into the mix.

Will Charlie’s dream slip through her fingertips, or can she catch the ball?

Carson and Charlie

This story continues the world started by Beckett, with sine new insight and some concurrent scenes. Can be a little difficult at times to distinguish between timelines or repetition, but still quite enjoyable read/ listen.

Great listen.

I liked the characters. The story is well told. Threw me off though when it from Charlie to Zane then Zane again. I was expecting it to go boy girl boy girl. But otherwise. I loved the story.

love it

I love how S. M. Stryker is continuing this series. How the characters are interconnected from the previous stories. This is Carson and Charlie's story. How their friendship develops and then crashes, because of a misunderstanding. There is plenty of suspense, drama, twists and romance, to keep the story interesting.
Nicholas Donald Malcolm does a wonderful narration. .He flawlessly changes in between characters giving each their own voice and personality. I was gifted this audio and offered my honest review.

Perfect!

Another exceptionally well-written second chance romance by S.M. Stryke. The series gets better and better with each installment. Stryker has paid particular attention to her character development, as they are uniquely complex and compelling. The storyline is poignant, exquisitely descriptive, heart-wrenching, and utterly engaging. I was completely enthralled by this beautifully written love story about two young people trying to figure out life at a critical point in their lives.

Nicholas Donald Malcolm does an outstanding job with the narration. He portrays Charlie, and Carson's personalities, and emotions flawlessly, breathing life into the characters. This was definitely an enjoyable listen and, I strongly recommend it.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Intense!

S.M. Stryker delivers pens another awesome novel in her “Second Chance” series. It is a series of interconnected standalone books and while they can be enjoyed on their own I highly recommend reading them all and reading them in order because they are that good. Each book features a different lead character but several of the secondary characters appear in all books and it is great to know their history. Some scenes are repeated over the series from different points of view and is told in their eyes. That said this is Carson story, we got to meet him in earlier books when he was hired to work for Beckett. This book brings us back to his younger days when he went by his middle name and was roaming from town to town, living off the money he made from selling apps. He was about to move on from the Tennessee college town but when he meets Charlie and he decides to stay. Charlie, a freshman and athlete set to play on the softball team. Charlie’s start at school was not an easy one, her roommate and teammates gave her a hard time and the coach was no help either. Zain was her saving grace, the two hit it off right from, the chemistry between them was smoking hot. But her world implodes, issues with the coach and the team and then being sent info about Zain that breaks her heart she flees. Unable to go back home to disappointed parents she goes off to try to make it on her own. She has struggles and finds herself on the street, but with some help she get her feet back on the ground, we see when she first meets Raven and Braydon. I loved how S.M Stryker intertwined the lives of all these characters and it was great to learn more about them, where they came from to where they are today and their connections. There is never a dull moment in this book, it is well plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, some heartbreaking, heartfelt ones and a great second chance romance. I loved the great ending and what Carson did for everyone. S.M. Stryker, thank you for this awesome story & characters and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

Nicholas Donald Malcolm is a great narrator and voice artist. He does a great job portraying the characters and bringing them to life, giving them them their voices and personality. You could hear how much heart he puts into work capturing the characters emotions and projecting it into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for a great listen🎧
