"Never started a company before? Struggling with little or no cash? Have no experience, no baseline to judge your progress against? Thank God! You've got a shot at making this work."
So says Mike Michalowicz, author of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, a business book that is so uniquely useful, so raw and entertaining, it reads like the brainchild of Steve Jobs and Chris Rock.
The founder of three multimillion-dollar companies, including Obsidian Launch, a company that partners with first-time entrepreneurs to grow their concepts into industry leaders, Mike Michalowicz knows what it really takes to spin your great idea into pure gold.
Whether you're just starting out or have been at this for years, Mike's "get real" approach to business is a much-needed, swift kick in the pants. In this book, you'll discover:

Chock-full of useful information, while being not in the least bit dry.
play-by-play narration of a public restroom 3-sheets dilemma.
energy, enthusiasm, and clearly in the author's voice because he self-narrated :-P
I laughed early, I laughed often, and I laughed hard.
TPE is the "how to start a lean business" book. The Pumpkin Plan (also by Mike Michalowicz and also on Audible) is the "how to grow beyond your plateau" book. Both are irreverent and full of great ideas.
Ironically, I read this book last of all 3 of Mike's books. Still loved it. I am have had a company for almost 2 years and though much of the book still applies to me, I only wish I read it 2 years ago. I love that Mike brings it as he is, like it or not!
Mike! As a young business owner I felt the chill in my spine and fire in my stomach when Mike mentioned he started at 24 years old; I am 24 now.
Having read all 3 of Mike's books I can honestly say they speak for themselves. Even if you don't like the accents and cheesy humor, you will eventually! If I ever have the pleasure of meeting Mike Michalowicz someday I only hope to buy him a beer! Cheers, Mike!
Fun book with good narration but lacking in the more actionable content found in the Pumpkin Plan. And, the nod to Tim F. is not a good one to include; made me momentarily question the underlying morality of Michalowicz's message.
Beside that, all else made this a decent book.
Mike is a great motivator with some great advice. It's worth the listen if your struggling to get your butt off the couch and continue/start your business.
Mike's teaching style is informative, action packed and entertaining. He's a bit crass at times (just in case you didn't pick up on that in his other work) but it's not offensive.
I had several "aha" moments of where I've gone off course in my own start-up. Now I'm looking forward to course-correcting and seeing growth in my biz due to Mike's advice.
I had almost checked out on my 32 year old business.......nearly lost the passion. Listening fired me up.
I'm telling everyone it's important they stop what they are doing and listen to the entire book NOW!
Yes. Entertaining and know I would catch more gems I missed the first time.
While I didn't enjoy this book as much as Profit First, it is educational and a worthwhile read. This book focus is on challenging your thinking on how you approach funding activities in your business. The thinking is that you can accomplish more than you think possible with much less than you would believe. Further, the act of forcing yourself to do more with less will fuel your creative thinking and empower you to accomplish greatness.
Yes, if your starting out, it is a good start to open your eyes.
Again, great for beginners looking for a start into something, once you have much of the experience I feel you are too far past to apply a lot of his talks.
This is the second book of the author's I've read, the first being 'profit first'. This is an excellent accompaniment to the first and expands on the author's extensive experience and knowledge.
Some interesting and different ways of business coaching
Not all sections for everyone but quite a cool listen
"Boring and not inspiring"
Another 'the secret to success is selling the secret to success' book unfortunately.
Just taking massively successful Business People and calling them toilet paper entrepreneurs doesn't make them to toilet paper entrepreneurs.
This book was boring and uninspiring. Show us how you made your millions outside of selling books on just that.
"Hard hitting straight to the point"
no frills approach, a simple map to get you up and running or to help trim the fat of waste and to show you that you can go with what you have find what you stand for and just go
