I loved this audio book! The tips and advice given are amazing and the author knows how to present ideas and concepts without making a hard sale or being pushy. You actually want to listen and follow the advice that is given, The tips and advice McCloud offers are easy to follow and you can start applying them right away! As far as the tone and layout of the guide, everything flows nicely, the information is delivered in a way that is easy to understand and I found myself actually wanting to listen to more. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to boost their self discipline- whether for personal or professional reasons.
Willpower, Achievement, Goal-Reaching
The section about eating the appropriate foods was really eye-opening. I thought motivation was purely a mental-game. But it appears that I can stay more motivated by watching my diet!
He's a very clear speaker, and manages to sound enthusiastic over the whole book. It doesn't sound like he's reading from a script either.
Yes, but neither of those. It really made me want to get up and do something! I actually started putting into action some of the items on my bucket list because of this book!

I'd say the audiobook is a lot better than the print version. This is because you can understand the work better, and retain information longer.
I went into reading Self-discipline cautious, as I do with every self-help book. By the end of the book, though, I knew it was the perfect book to bring my self-discipline up. I loved learning that with self-discipline and persuasion, it can bring me better opportunities at the work place, and even make my relationships better. I also appreciated the information that winners have a strong willpower and they don't give up. What helped me learn how to build up my willpower is to think of our willpower, which has been proven to be a limited source, as filling up the gas tank in a car; I have to do some things to refill my willpower. This being cut down on sugary snacks and beverages, choose whole grain food options when available, and more.
Chapters three and four were my favorites. Three because it gave tips on how to build my willpower, and four because it was about self-discipline. I learned that to do anything, especially improve our self-discipline, we have to take a look at ourselves. We also need to figure out our strengths and weaknesses, and make goals we want to achieve. With self-discipline, you need to make sure you are not overwhelming yourself when trying to build your self-discipline and make small changes to your life at a time.
I think the insight from chapters one, three, and four is what I will really apply into my life. I've always struggled with willpower and self-discipline problems. I believe that, if I follow the exercises and tips in Ace McCloud's book, I can not only improve these two things in my life, but also improve my quality of life, my relationships, and even my career!
This book can help anyone suffering from self-discipline and willpower issues. It may seem impossible at first, but if you read this book, follow the exercises, and listen to what Mr. McCloud has to say, your life will improve greatly! Mine sure has. This guy knows what he is talking about.
I loved the flow of this guide. I felt empowered by the language and the strategies included. These are great takeaways for everyone, not just those struggling.
I enjoyed the strategies for harnessing your willpower and using it to your maximum benefit. They're quick and easy tweaks, but they make all the difference.
His voice was engaging and soothing. He made everything sound interesting, I don't think it would matter how boring a topic could be.
It made me think. It made me analyze certain parts of my life and think hard about what is important.

This was a great book, as it changed how I could think and act.
Before reading this book, I did not know that in order to be successful in your field, you need to maintain discipline with yourself, your health, money, work and other things.
When it especially spoke about thriving at your job or have better relationships with the people through Self Discipline.
I do not have to tell why gaining or improving these skill sets are so important. The benefits through this book will be tremendous in helping attain one’s goals, thriving at a job/profession or have better relationships with the people that matter in your life. Couldn't recommend it enough.
Informative, helpful, unique

This audible book was not very long, and contained a lot of interesting and different information that kept me committed to listening to the entire story at once.
In this book you will learn not only how to gain self discipline, but you will learn how to increase your self esteem, and guides you with good habits for having effective self discipline. It will ultimately help you to live more efficiently and become more successful.
Great book on how to discipline yourself. You can use this almost anywhere and anytime in your life. I loved listening to it and you will too. I will have to look for other books from this author!

I found this audio-book highly motivating, and would recommend it to anyone looking to increase their willpower and self-control. I learned some easy ways to boost my influence and persuasion skills, which are useful to use on myself when I need to talk myself into doing something. It was very interesting to learn about some of the things that can affect willpower, and ways in which to strengthen it.
The audio-book includes some simple and effective step by step exercises that help to build a more positive self image and be more confident. I found the tips really helpful, for example the list of habits that build willpower, and instructions on how to create a motivational list. I also found the quotations really inspiring.
"Super hints and tips to improve Self Discipline"
They are equally as good, I found it useful having it in both formats so I could make notes while listening.
I really loved the bits that went into the biological factors surrounding our ability to be disciplined - it was really interesting to know that low blood sugar levels can be damaging to our ability to remain disciplined and will be taking it into account in future.
This is a how to inormation book, so no characters, but Josh did a good job of keeping it interesting and helping you to take points on board.
Not exactly, but I like the idea that self discipline is like a muscle, that you need to work it to make it stronger!

While not a story in the strictest sense of the word, the theme and purpose of the book was useful; self-discipline, even if not to the point of Kolinahr, is something that can be very useful in one's personal life as much as a professional one depending on personal events and the disposition of the individual.

This audio book is such a spring of knowledge. One of my favorite quotes is "Attitude changes your altitude" and it's so refreshing to hear not just inspirational quotes such as these, but how to put them into daily practice. This book covers the what, where, why, when, and how's and I can't wait to put them to use!
Self Discipline is a mighty book, that offers a huge amount of motivational information in a compact form. With a listening time of just over an hour, it leaves you with the feeling that you have just heard a week of seminars on the subject. The book itself tells you how to deal with this without becoming overwhelmed, and there are scores of practical suggestions as to where to begin, how to progress and how to succeed. I would rank the book in the top 3 motivational books I have ever listened to, in terms of content and capacity to initiate real change.
The walk through "how to" in relation to focussing down on one (big) thing and progressing it through to success was extremely helpful. I, like many of us, can become overwhelmed by wanting to change too much, all at the same time. Also the idea that our actions are the outcome of what we have truly decided, so if there is no new action, we have not truly decided to change.
In his usual style, Joshua brings his innate enthusiasm and clarity to the presentation of this subject, where it adds an extra layer of positivity.
Yes! I actually listened in two sittings, because I began listening when I didn't have time to complete it, but when the time came to switch it off I didn't want to; I was making notes while listening and feeling very inspired for change.
Self Discipline takes you through building competence in persuasion, will power and discipline; looks at how to fight the need for instant gratification; and then at some great role models. However, the detail covers a massive range of subjects from blood sugar fluctuation, to laughter therapy and practicing gratitude. A worthy listen.
"Self Discipline Explained!"
This is the second book I've listened to by Ace McCloud and just like the first, Self Discipline is tremendous at outlining all the key elements to consider when it comes to self-discipline. The book manages to strike that perfect balance between being informative and engaging, while at just 1 hour in length, it was ideal and inspiring to listen to driving in before work.
It goes into great detail on topics like controlling negative influences, how to influence lives both personally and professionally, while the section on willpower is truly fascinating. The tips that the author gives are so simple but they make so much sense when you hear why and how they can help you.
The chapter on willpower is very interesting. It offers information, advice and examples of how you can increase your willpower and I found it to be very enlightening.
There were no characters in the book, but I thought the narrator does a really great job of engaging the listener and putting emphasis on many of the key points that are included.
I would recommend this book for anyone who is interested in gaining more influence on there lives. I listened to this and immediately I saw instances in my life in which I saw opportunities to utilize some of the tips given in the book.

I think this is the perfect size for a modern motivational book. Ace covers only the essential stuff without fillers. Joshua Mackey with his "you-can-do-it" voice killed it.
However, i disagree with some of the opinions here but i guess we are all essentric to our individual opinions
