Why do certain products and ideas go viral? Dynamic young Wharton professor Jonah Berger draws on his research to explain the six steps that make products or ideas contagious.
Why do some products get more word of mouth than others? Why does some online content go viral? Word of mouth makes products, ideas, and behaviors catch on. It's more influential than advertising and far more effective.
Can you create word of mouth for your product or idea? According to Berger, you can. Whether you operate a neighborhood restaurant, a corporation with hundreds of employees, or are running for a local office for the first time, the steps that can help your product or idea become viral are the same.
Contagious is filled with fascinating information drawn from Berger's research. You will be surprised to learn, for example, just how little word of mouth is generated online versus elsewhere. Already praised by Dan Ariely and Dan Gilbert, and sold in nine countries, this book is a must-listen for people who want their projects and ideas to succeed.

A reader of biographies, history, and other non-fiction
The author’s advice on marketing makes sense, but I found his audiobook a stressful listen, as his endless stories, spelled out in a host petty details really distracted from the message. It would have benefited from a much tighter re-write.
The Tipping Point. It's like the sequel to the Tipping Point, which I also enjoyed.
Social Currency. I love that expression.
The narration blends very well with the content to the point the narrator sounds like he is the author. The book is a collection of lessons framed in stories that have practical application for just about any business. This is the first book that anyone of ambition should read or listen to. I've listened to it twice and will listen to it again in the future I'm sure.
Great for all businesses, especially those that don't have much of a marketing budget. Good too see what is behind some marketing campaigns and what really works and what doesnt.
Having worked in real estate since 2003, it's always been an interesting task to try and make an old industry feel fresh. Listening to this book has given me a number of great ideas which I am excited to begin using in my business!
"Excellent read on the recipe for virality"
I have recommended this book to two entrepreneurs and a friend working in marketing as the techniques can be applied to a significant range of businesses. The added benefit is that the examples chosen to demonstrate these techniques are real world scenarios which many people can relate to.
I have not listened to any of Keith's other performances. Keith is a talented narrator. These type of books have a vast amount of great content but could be difficult to deliver. Keith was highly engaging and kept me wanting more.
It made me smile. I looked back at my past and could count numerous times that I have been a subject of contagious content.
If like me, you've wondered how a video has got so viral or why the same story has been shared by multiple people. then this audiobook may help to answer some of those questions, in a very engaging way.
"I usually hate business books but...."
I usually hate business books but this was far more practical and useful than any other.
It almost gives you a list of reasons why products will take off. Granted most of the principles apply to branding but I do actually believe it offers a lot to people choosing product selection.
"Good explanation with excellent examples"
This is a great book filled with real life examples of things going viral and the author's well thought out explanation of how they went viral.
"Essential for EVERY adman and entrepreneur!"
The reseaech here is cutting edge. This should be in every advertising degree compulsory curriculum
"Amazing - worth x100 the price"
Essential must have for any business owner, whether you have a product, person, information or anything else - this book is a must sell
It is the bible for virality
"Insightful, inspiring and priceless"
The best book I've read in about 10 years! Absolutely amazing, a real game changer!
"Don't buy this book! It's my secret weapon..."
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. Many new ideas and reinforcement of many suspicions one has in how people react. Great stories backed up with facts and figures, easy to understand and I can't wait to put some of this into practice.
"Worth the time and money"
Good examples of proving the theory and entertaining. The next level would be for the author to have used the techniques on his own projects and would of made them more practical.
Also some products don't easily fit into the technique categories so advice on that would of improved the book.
"Getting viral gracefully!"
explains very clearly what gets viral and how to have directed approach to get it.
"Top Class book on contagious marketing"
