Publisher's summary
While most people find it relatively easy to manage their possessions, some find it extremely difficult. If you have a problem resisting the urge to acquire and you find your home cluttered and filled to capacity with items many people would find useless and unnecessary, you may suffer from a condition known as hoarding disorder.
Hoarding is a behavioral problem consisting of clutter, difficulty discarding items, and excessive buying or acquiring. Hoarding is often associated with significant reduction in quality of life, and in extreme cases, it can pose serious health risks. If you or a loved one has hoarding disorder, this book can help.
This fully updated second edition of Buried in Treasures outlines a scientifically-based, effective program for helping those with hoarding disorder dig their way out of the clutter and chaos of their homes. Written by scientists and practitioners who are leaders in studying and treating hoarding disorder, this book outlines a program of skill-building, learning to think about possessions in a different way, and gradual challenges to help people manage their clutter and their lives. It also provides useful information for family and friends of people who hoard, as they struggle to understand and help.
Discover the reasons for your problems with acquiring, saving, and hoarding, and learn new ways of thinking about your possessions so you can decide what you really need and what you can do without. Learn to identify the "bad guys" that cause and maintain your hoarding behavior and meet the "good guys" who can help motivate you and put you on the path to change. Useful self-assessments will help you determine the severity of your problem. Fumio Sasaki changed his life when he became a minimalist. But before minimalism could really stick, he had to make it a habit. All of us live our lives based on the habits we’ve formed, from when we get up in the morning to what we eat and drink to how likely we are to actually make it to the gym. In Hello, Habits, Sasaki explains how we can acquire the new habits that we want - and get rid of the ones that don’t do us any good.

This Book Was Amazing
I really appreciated this book. I did all of the writing prompts and used it to go thrift my house. it also gave me great clarity on being raised in a hoarder home and what was actually going on. I suffer from chronic disorganization due to this and this book showed me that it is due to old rules I had to follow that don't even align with me. I would reccomend this to anyone, as it could help anyone manage their things.

This book was not like any other clutter book
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I have bought other books on decluttering but they really didn’t help. However this book goes deep in the root causes of your cluttering issues. I kept telling myself this book was written just for me!! Every word in the book resonated with my brain, my mind. I cannot recommend this book enough!! If you’ve tried to declutter your home with no success, you need to listen to this book! It will help you in a much deeper level than trying to find out if an item sparks joy or trying to death clean. To the authors thank you so much for writing this book. You’re all a Godsend!

A Glimmer of Hope For Those Buried in Treasures
The treasure that I found in this book is HOPE! This book has helped me to have a greater understanding of hoarding disorder. It discusses many of the emotions and cognitive errors that persons who struggle with hoarding may experience. It addresses how others might assist someone who has this disorder. It provides action steps for those who struggle with hoarding and are ready to take steps towards recovery. The book is full of assignments and activities to complete so having a physical copy would be most helpful. I will listen to this book again and again and if the activity pages aren’t available online then I will be purchasing the physical book. I’m so glad that I found this!
