Publisher's summary

Maia Delacroix is a hunter of people and magical artifacts. She enjoys her life as a mage and bounty hunter. Her life is full of excitement and danger, with very little responsibility.

The Mageri shocks her with a new ward. As a recently orphaned teen, Elaina’s witch mother kept her somewhat isolated from the magical community, but now, Maia is to entrench her into the magical lifestyle.

But Elaina has secrets, and it soon becomes clear that Elaina is no mere witch. The coven wants her back. They engage necromancers to turn Maia’s vampire friends into enemies. If that isn’t bad enough, demons start coming out of the woodwork.

If Maia can turn her hunting skills into defense, they might be okay. That is, if only Elaina can trust her.

Page Turner, Could Not stop Listening

This is a fun story though it gets rather intense at times. I could tell where the story was heading and had figured out what was going on. Narrator does a Great job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline. I will now start book 2 of this Series

This is a wonderfully done story! Very Enjoyable!

Loved the story! Loved the world building! Loved the characters! I enjoy reading stories like this! It grabbed my attention from the beginning. The world building is well done and peaked my interest. Who doesn’t love a snarky heroine? Maia was a treat! Bounty hunter with all those extra skills! Delightful! Then add in the vampires, shifters, witches and necromancers and this is a party!

I listened to this on audio. Stacy Dugan is a new to me narrator and I was delighted with her skills. I look forward to kore in this series!

An Entertaining Magical Mystery Noir

First off, this is one of those books where I actually just want a solid story that doesn't need some "new" take on [one of my favorite] genres. And while it took a bit to connect with the MC, I really grew to love her [and her side kick] by the end and I am looking forward to hearing/reading the rest of their story in the future. The tropey context was fun and light hearted without being too dark, with weres, vamps, demons, witches and sorcerers all in the mix to tell a story with a couple of converging plotlines. Who is Elaina and why does the coven of witches she hates so much want to get their hands on her? Who is killing off vampires and why? ... Oh and here is a totally kool take on necromancers just to make the book more interesting.

I was given this free review copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great book

I really liked this book, I listened to it in one sitting basically. I loved the quirky storyline, and the relationship that grows between Maia and Elaina was really heartwarming. Also — necromancers!! That’s not something I have seen in many books before, but I thought it was really imaginative as to why vamps might be wary of necros, I never considered that before!

oh what fun!

This was a new to me author and narrator and I am very happy to discover both. My husband doesn't read but he actually cut the sound off of his video game to join me in listening because of just how good the situational conversation between characters is. We were both laughing aloud and having to pause for personal commentary and discussion so we didn't miss the interaction between characters. If you like funny or snark this is definitely for you

Chaos

This is such an action packed story, it’s so full of chaos, mysteries, magic, & adventure. Mya is such a fun & bad@ss character, she’s a bounty hunter & a mage, but her biggest assignment might just be a 15 year old girl…..

A fun story

I very much enjoyed this story. It was entertaining and kept my interest. I was a bit put off at first by all the swearing by the main character. It is definitely not for children for that reason. After listening for a while I became a accustomed to the main character swearing a lot and it didn’t bother me as much. My only issue with the story is the end fight with the necromancer and vampires and mages… that was a bit anti-climactic for the build up in the story. It was too predictable in my opinion. I also don’t think there was enough suspense during the fight. Otherwise I loved it. The characters are easy to relate to or hate depending on the purpose. Looking forward to the next one!
