There’s more to winning battles than fists and feet
For world-renowned professional fighter Georges St-Pierre, the greatest asset is not physical strength or athleticism - it’s a sense of purpose. From his beginnings as a small, mercilessly bullied child first discovering karate to his years as a struggling garbage collector who spent all his free time in the gym, his hard-fought rise in the sport of mixed martial arts, and his long, painful recovery from a career-threatening injury, Georges never lost sight of his ambition to become the greatest martial artist of all time. In The Way of the Fight, Georges for the first time reveals what propelled him not only to become a champion but to embrace obstacles as opportunities to build character.
Georges’ story is interwoven with fascinating insights from those who know him best: his mother, who tells of his drive to master new skills, even as a child. His mentor Kristof Midoux, who describes a young fighter with an extraordinary sense of discipline. His Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teacher John Danaher, who witnessed the development of an indomitable work ethic. His coach Firas Zahabi, who worked alongside the champion through a potentially career-ending injury. And his longtime friend, training partner and manager, Rodolphe Beaulieu, who may understand this intensely focused athlete more than anyone.
The Way of the Fight is an inspirational look into the mindset of a master. To Georges, all life is competition, and there’s no more perfect metaphor for competition than the life of a fighter. He explains the value of discipline, risk and even fear, with the wisdom of one who knows that nothing is assured - his next fight could always be his last. Drawing inspiration from fighting legends, Eastern philosophy and a trusted inner circle, The Way of the Fight is a powerful, life-changing guide to living with purpose and finding the way to accomplish your loftiest goals.

Hi, I'm an alumi of NYU and I'm also huge into MMA. I love books I read a lot and review the stand outs. I'll give you guys the goods.
This book is outstanding a lot of ways particularly in how it dispenses with advice. George is a very intelligent athlete and a class act all around. The story of his life is very interesting. What I found particularly useful was the talks he gave about fear and anxiety. The only shortcoming of this book I can point to is the abysmal narration. Many a great book on audible has been ruined by a subpar narrator and this book almost fell into that category. However. I think the book is well worth your time to listen to and I think you'll enjoy greatly.
I would recommend to anyone who is inspired by the story of someone who starts at the bottom and comes out on top. The book jumps from master to GSP so you have to pay attention to that but it's well worth listening to.
We learn a lot about how he trains, what his strategies and tactics are, what his philosophy on fighting (and life) is. George comes across as intelligent and thoughtful. It's hard not to root for him. The problem, for me, is I wanted to learn more about George. He doesn't offer much beyond the fact that he was bullied as a kid, has supportive parents, and has a good group of people around him.
Love a good book!
I would listen to parts of the book. Martial Artist will be able to relate to many of the story and incites addressed in this book.
GSP and his 2 fight coaches.
Yes the narration reminded me of GSP and his french accent. So the story sounded like it GSP himself.
Towards the end he talked about over-training. Many martial artist and athletes will be able to identify with this section and the final epilogue was very good.
Good book and a good read.
By far was a very good way to know in the mind of one of the greatest fighters of all time. Your CPA has showed why he fights the challenges that come with growing up growing pains being an adult and China make your way back from an injury this is a very inspirational book and I actually recommend anybody who love them and they like I do and loves GSP I would totally recommend this book this is an awesome book a good read expiration oh I have a Weather have the most formal suspect for GSP
