Here are tales of golden retrievers and sheepdogs, beagles and dachshunds, purebreds and crossbreeds, and just plain mutts - and, of course, Tricki Woo, Mrs. Pumphrey's memorable Pekinese. Each tale is suffused with the humor, wisdom and humanity of one of the greatest storytellers of our time: James Herriot.

These are fine stories from a Vet who really loved and understood his job. The only disappointment was that "Jingo and Skipper" wasn't included in the anthology.
His stories may go back over 70 years, but I cherish each and every story. I laugh, I cry and I learn. Everyone should enjoy such stories.
Yes, it was enjoyable to listen to and reminded of an old movie from the 1940's.
The dog's personalites
He is a highly skilled actor that truly enhances the story.

Dog lovers dream
The Miss Julie Series by Ann B Ross because they are so entertaining that one can't stop listening
That's hard I like Tricky Lou? the rich ladies little overweight dog. But I am also partial to the Border Collie stories. They are my absolute favorite dogs to read about or to watch
Yes!! And I started it over and listen 2 more times. I will listen again after I finish Herriots next book All Things Great And Small
I just love the narrator and his accents. I feel as if I have been to that part of the UK
yes! all of Herriot's books are. I have read and lisend to most of his books. they are worth reading over and over because there is all ways more to learn and feel.
only to his other books!. He stands alone.
He brings Herriot to live in the ear. He also gave wormth and sensativety in the BBC series
the way gave words to the dying of the old lady.
Mostly using audiobooks when my concentration is so bad that I can't read text. Or sometimes when I feel the need to practise my [listening] english even more. I'm not very picky when it comes to stories, so can listen to practically anything – and have a knack to find SOMETHING in each story that I like. *smile*
As a dog lover I can't help but love James Herriot's stories, he is a good writer and obviously a good vet – he knows what's truly important when treating a dog and dealing with their owners. He lets us into a bit of his world – getting to know these amazing dog personalities, as well as their humans.
The narrator did a truly great job, his read was a great listen.
The only thing that was off to me was the music that at times popped up in places that felt completely random and at one point inappropriate.
Other than tht a great listen! And I will most likely listen to it again at some point.
I loved the print version and really love the audio version. I use the audio books while i am on the treadmill and LOVE James Herriots books. Thank you so much.
He has a smooth voice and speaks very clearly...he is very easy to listen to.
I loved the variety and the interaction with the farmers (hillsmen) and you learn to love the dogs. Great Book
I loved the stories of "Tricki Woo"
The hillsman accent which makes you feel more a part of where the stories are coming from
I did both depending on the story
I wish there were more. Thanks for a great book
This is worth the listening.
I really enjoyed these short stories, there was one in there that was not as enjoyable but as a whole, he has a great sense of humor and ability to understand the situation from all points of view, including the dogs ! It is well worth the listen.
This book is one to stir all the emotions of the heart, I did laugh at most of the stories.
