Here are tales of golden retrievers and sheepdogs, beagles and dachshunds, purebreds and crossbreeds, and just plain mutts - and, of course, Tricki Woo, Mrs. Pumphrey's memorable Pekinese. Each tale is suffused with the humor, wisdom and humanity of one of the greatest storytellers of our time: James Herriot.

His stories may go back over 70 years, but I cherish each and every story. I laugh, I cry and I learn. Everyone should enjoy such stories.
These are fine stories from a Vet who really loved and understood his job. The only disappointment was that "Jingo and Skipper" wasn't included in the anthology.
Dog lovers dream
The Miss Julie Series by Ann B Ross because they are so entertaining that one can't stop listening
That's hard I like Tricky Lou? the rich ladies little overweight dog. But I am also partial to the Border Collie stories. They are my absolute favorite dogs to read about or to watch
Yes!! And I started it over and listen 2 more times. I will listen again after I finish Herriots next book All Things Great And Small
I just love the narrator and his accents. I feel as if I have been to that part of the UK
Grew up reading these stories, so there's some nostalgia bias here, but these are truly wonderful "people stories" with lots of animal heart to boot. Christopher Timothy (who played Harriot in the BBC series) does a fabulous job reading and handles the accents well. When I can't sleep I put this on and smile as the antics of Tricki and Roy distract me into slumber. This particular recording is good quality, unlike a few of the others of the same series here on Audible, which sound tinny and soft. I've recommended these stories to lots of people over the years and never known anyone to be disappointed.
I love the Herriott books but this is just a regurgitation of stories I already have in other books. VERY dissappointed and I can't seem to get the return button to work.
Yes- love the Herriot books.
I loved the print version and really love the audio version. I use the audio books while i am on the treadmill and LOVE James Herriots books. Thank you so much.
He has a smooth voice and speaks very clearly...he is very easy to listen to.
I loved the variety and the interaction with the farmers (hillsmen) and you learn to love the dogs. Great Book
I loved the stories of "Tricki Woo"
The hillsman accent which makes you feel more a part of where the stories are coming from
I did both depending on the story
I wish there were more. Thanks for a great book
Yes, it was enjoyable to listen to and reminded of an old movie from the 1940's.
The dog's personalites
He is a highly skilled actor that truly enhances the story.
Reading or listening I always like any of the All Creature stories. I am working my way though the audio books. I have been though both television and books
Mostly using audiobooks when my concentration is so bad that I can't read text. Or sometimes when I feel the need to practise my [listening] english even more. I'm not very picky when it comes to stories, so can listen to practically anything – and have a knack to find SOMETHING in each story that I like. *smile*
As a dog lover I can't help but love James Herriot's stories, he is a good writer and obviously a good vet – he knows what's truly important when treating a dog and dealing with their owners. He lets us into a bit of his world – getting to know these amazing dog personalities, as well as their humans.
The narrator did a truly great job, his read was a great listen.
The only thing that was off to me was the music that at times popped up in places that felt completely random and at one point inappropriate.
Other than tht a great listen! And I will most likely listen to it again at some point.
